A valley that says no to cars

Fiemme Senz'Auto is one of the most beloved sustainable mobility events in Trentino. Every year in early June, the SS48 Dolomite road is closed to vehicular traffic for the entire day, turning into a long, temporary cycle path. This twelve-kilometer car-free stretch connects Cavalese to Predazzo, passing through the villages of Ville di Fiemme, Tesero, Panchià, and Ziano di Fiemme, all the way to the Predazzo Biolake. Launched in 2009, the initiative has become a staple of spring in Fiemme, attracting families, cyclists, and curious visitors from across the valley and beyond.

Ziano di Fiemme: a hub of local energy

The municipality of Ziano di Fiemme, in the province of Trento, is one of the most lively stops on the route. The heart of the festivities unfolds between Via Nazionale, Piazza Italia, and Parco di Villa Flora, where local associations take center stage. The Pro Loco de Suàn, in collaboration with the Le Rais Social Cooperative, offers traditional food and live music at Villa Flora, while the Ziano Alpini serve hot sandwiches and drinks. The event also features Radio Fiemme broadcasting live from the square, pedal go-karts and target shooting organized by ASD Cauriol, creative workshops for children by La Voce delle Donne, and the chance to try out instruments with the Ziano Municipal Band.

A full day of activities

From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the state road becomes an open-air stage. Along the route, you will find:

• Live music, dance, and performances
• Games and activities for children and families
• Gastronomic stands featuring local products and street food
• Information and cultural booths hosted by local associations
• Sports and outdoor movement opportunities

The event is completely free and designed to be reached without a car: a free Bike Express service is available by reservation (with a stop in Ziano), alongside the standard Trentino Trasporti valley bus lines. To reduce waste, reusable tableware with a deposit is available at the Pro Loco and Villa Flora stands.

Sustainability and community

Organized by the municipalities of Val di Fiemme in partnership with the Territorial Valley Community, APT Fiemme Cembra, the Val di Fiemme Nordic Organizing Committee, and the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, the day has a clear goal: to promote a sustainable lifestyle, showcase the local area, and raise awareness about eco-friendly transport. More than just an event, Fiemme Senz'Auto has become a community celebration that renews the bond between the people and their valley every year.
