The Vigo and Pozza di Fassa stops of the Valli dell'Avisio touring festival
The Fiemme and Fassa Accordion Festival, also known as the Valli dell'Avisio Accordion Festival, is one of the most distinctive summer music events in Trentino-Alto Adige. Established in 2014 and organized by the Pro Loco of Castello-Molina di Fiemme APS, the festival is a touring event that, over ten days in July, travels through the squares, theaters, and pavilions of the Avisio valleys, showcasing the accordion in all its forms: from popular alpine music to classical and concert repertoire, as well as tango, jazz, singer-songwriter music, and world music.
The festival brings together international performers, young world-champion accordionists, and local ensembles, with a program that has expanded over the years well beyond the Fiemme, Fassa, and Cembra valleys, now also involving the Piana Rotaliana, the Vigolana Plateau, the Vallagarina, and the Valle dei Mòcheni. All concerts are free of charge.
In the Municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, in the province of Trento, the festival stops in the two villages of Vigo di Fassa and Pozza di Fassa, the heart of the Ladin Val di Fassa at the foot of the Catinaccio and Sassolungo massifs. The Vigo di Fassa concert is held outdoors in the small square in front of the Tourist Office, in a Dolomite setting that combines the intimate atmosphere of a musical evening with the charm of the mountains; in case of bad weather, the event is moved to the pavilion in front of Hotel Vael. The Pozza di Fassa stop completes the festival's presence in the municipality, offering residents and summer vacationers another free appointment.
The program highlights the connection with the territory and the Ladin musical heritage of Val di Fassa. Alongside the chromatic accordion, the Steirische Harmonika—the diatonic accordion of alpine traditions—is often the star, weaving melodies inspired by the mountains, folk songs, and original compositions. Each evening features a different performer, renewing the repertoire and juxtaposing tradition with more contemporary styles, from waltzes and mazurkas to tango and jazz.
The Valli dell'Avisio Accordion Festival stands out for its widespread and popular nature: bringing great music to where people live, in town squares and pavilions, involving mountain communities, local Pro Loco associations, and cultural entities. The collaboration between various associations and institutions allows for dozens of free concerts every year, confirming the festival as one of the most beloved summer events in Trentino.
The San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan stops of the 12th Valli dell'Avisio Accordion Festival took place during the first weekend of July 2026. Saturday, July 4, at 9:15 PM, the Vigo di Fassa concert was held in the small square in front of the Tourist Office, featuring the Luca Zack duo performing a program inspired by the repertoire of Gorni Kramer, blending swing, singer-songwriter music, and traditional Italian melodies. In case of bad weather, the evening was scheduled at the pavilion in front of Hotel Vael.
The festival's presence in the municipality continued on Sunday, July 5 with the Pozza di Fassa stop. As with all festival events, the concerts were free of charge. The 2026 edition, organized by the Pro Loco of Castello-Molina di Fiemme APS, featured 24 free concerts over ten days, from July 1 to 10, in the Avisio valleys and other areas of Trentino.
