The grand village dinner by candlelight along Via San Zeno in Fiavè
Fiavè by Candlelight is the most anticipated summer event in Fiavè, a small town in the Giudicarie Esteriori in the Province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Established in 2012 by the Pro Loco Fiavé, the event has given the village a true festive identity: for one night, the entire Via San Zeno transforms into a single, incredibly long table illuminated only by the flickering light of hundreds of candles.
The charm of the evening stems from its setting: the characteristic Trentino rural houses, with their typical wooden bridges embracing the Piazza di San Zeno, provide a unique backdrop. Candles are placed everywhere—on doorways, the bell tower, windowsills, balconies, and inside colored glass jars on the tables—creating a warm and evocative setting that attracts hundreds of participants every year.
The day begins in the afternoon with visits to the Fiavè Pile-Dwelling Museum, an important UNESCO-recognized pile-dwelling site in the Alpine region, which also hosts local artists. Throughout the evening, local producers offer tastings and tourism operators serve aperitifs, before the traditional dinner is served along the long table. To complete the festivities, a grand finale show features great music, theatrical moments, light displays, and street performers.
Fiavè by Candlelight is, above all, a great community effort: the event involves hundreds of people, including guests and a core team of about 120 volunteers. This event also saw the birth of the Pro Loco Junior, the only youth section of a Pro Loco in Trentino, where young people have progressed from table service to responsible roles in the organization. It is a way to pass down traditions, passions, and a sense of belonging to the village.
The event is traditionally held in July in the historic center of Fiavè along Via San Zeno. Reservations are recommended for the dinner, which sells out every year with hundreds of guests.
The 2026 edition of Fiavè by Candlelight is confirmed for Friday, July 17, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM along Via San Zeno, in the historic center of Fiavè (Province of Trento).
The formula remains the one that made the event famous: the entire street transforms into a single long candlelit table, with visits to the Pile-Dwelling Museum, tastings from local producers, aperitifs from tourism operators, a traditional dinner, and a closing show featuring music, theater, and light displays. The detailed program and artistic line-up for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco Fiavé in the weeks leading up to the event. Reservations for dinner are recommended.
