About Palma d'Oro

The Palma d'Oro International Piano Festival is one of the most prestigious events dedicated to the piano in Italy. Every late summer, the international piano competition and a series of gala concerts take place between the Cloisters and the Auditorium of Santa Caterina in Finalborgo, Finale Ligure. A historic event in the province of Savona, it attracts young talents from all over the world and ideally continues to Donzdorf, Germany, in a musical twinning that has lasted for decades.

The piano takes centre stage in Finalborgo

The Palma d'Oro International Piano Festival is an event with a long tradition that combines an international piano competition and a concert festival. The main venue is in Finalborgo, the medieval village of Finale Ligure in the province of Savona, between the Cloisters and the Auditorium of Santa Caterina.

Competition and festival

The competition selects young pianists from all over the world through preliminary rounds and live performances, leading up to the final. In parallel, the festival offers opening and gala concerts with established performers, in highly evocative settings such as the Basilica of San Biagio and the historic cloisters. The event also includes a tribute to Aloise Vecchiato, a figure linked to the history of the prize.

A bridge between Italy and Germany

The Palma d'Oro also has an international dimension thanks to its link with Donzdorf, Germany, where the finalists move for the final rounds and the concluding prize. A musical twinning that makes the festival a unique experience in the European competition landscape.

Finalborgo, a stage for music

The setting of Finalborgo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, lends the festival a particular charm. For classical music lovers and visitors to the Riviera di Ponente, the Palma d'Oro is an opportunity to hear the piano talents of tomorrow in places of extraordinary beauty.
