Grandma's lisotti, De.Co. products, star of the San Rocco festival in Val Bormida
In Pallare, a Municipality in the Province of Savona in the Val Bormida, Grandma's lisotti are the most important specialty of the village. They are a potato flatbread cooked on the griddle, served in the traditional version with a garlic-based sauce and, in more recent versions, with delicious ingredients such as gorgonzola, Nutella, jam, and more. The product has obtained the Denominazione Comunale (De.Co.), a recognition that protects its recipe.
The Sagra del Lisotto is held in mid-August, on the occasion of the San Rocco celebrations, at the sports facilities in Pallare. The food stand opens every evening, and also for lunch on Sundays, offering Grandma's lisotti and many other local specialties. Every evening is enlivened by live music, in a festive atmosphere that lasts for several days.
Now in its fortieth edition, the Sagra del Lisotto is one of the most cherished summer events in the Savona Val Bormida. Organized by the Pro Loco Pallare, it celebrates a unique product and the art of traditional poor cuisine, when potatoes and a few other ingredients became a delicious dish. For those visiting the Savona hinterland in mid-August, it's an opportunity to discover a unique flavour and a welcoming community.
For 2026, the Sagra del Lisotto with the San Rocco celebrations will be held again in Pallare in mid-August, expected for its 44th edition. The Pro Loco will again offer Grandma's lisotti, a De.Co. product, along with other local specialties, at the sports facilities' food stand.
