Popular music and food and wine itinerary in the historic cellars of Chiaromonte
In Chiaromonte, nestled among the mountains and valleys of the Pollino in the province of Potenza, the Festival of Traditions and Popular Music is one of the most beloved summer events. An evening that shines a spotlight on the village's cultural heritage, featuring music, food, and traditions of inner Basilicata.
The festival offers a characteristic food and wine itinerary through the historic cellars of the town center, where visitors can savor authentic Lucanian cuisine — homemade pasta, cured meats, cheeses, preserves, and traditional desserts — accompanied by popular music: folk groups, bagpipe players, and dancers liven up alleys and squares until late at night. The heart of the event is the Parco Torre della Spiga.
Organized by Pro Loco Le Torri Chiaromonte, the festival has received important recognition: in March 2026, the Pro Loco was awarded the "Sagra d'Eccellenza" mark by EPLI at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, confirming the quality and authenticity of the event.
The festival is a journey into the roots of Lucanian culture, set against the evocative backdrop of a village overlooking the Sinni valley, rich in history, panoramic views, and hospitality, in the heart of the Pollino.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Traditions and Popular Music is expected, as usual, on August 13th in Chiaromonte, within the Parco Torre della Spiga. The event, organized by Pro Loco Le Torri — awarded the "Sagra d'Eccellenza" mark in 2026 — will once again offer the characteristic food and wine itinerary through the village's historic cellars, accompanied by Lucanian popular music. The date, as indicated by industry portals, is subject to confirmation with the organizers.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by Pro Loco Le Torri Chiaromonte in the weeks preceding the event.
Based on previous editions, the event includes: a food and wine itinerary through the historic cellars of the town center with tastings of Lucanian cuisine (homemade pasta, cured meats, cheeses, preserves, desserts), popular music performances with folk groups, bagpipe players, and dancers, and entertainment in the village's alleys and squares.
The food and wine itinerary in the historic cellars, the popular music with folk groups and bagpipes, the atmosphere of Parco Torre della Spiga.
