Scientific dissemination and archaeology in the village of Preggio, on the trail of the Italic peoples
The Festival of Italic Cultures 'Millenni' is a new cultural event held in Preggio, an ancient village that is part of the municipality of Umbertide, in the province of Perugia. The festival combines scientific dissemination and territorial regeneration, with the aim of recounting the millennial roots of the Italic cultures and the Umbrian territory through the eyes of scholars and archaeologists.
The program intertwines academic conferences, guided excursions to the hills surrounding the village โ particularly Monte Murlo and Monte Acuto, rich in archaeological traces โ workshops, and a historical-food and wine tour. Among the speakers are scholars such as Prof. Augusto Ancillotti, Prof. Luana Cencaioli, Prof. Paolo Braconi, and Prof. Duccio Lelli.
Promoted by the Pro Loco Preggio with the support of the Municipality of Umbertide and the collaboration of the Santa Croce Museum, 'Millenni' is part of a broader project for the enhancement and regeneration of the village. The initiative aims to combine scientific research with the rediscovery of the place's identity, attracting visitors and contributing to the revitalization of the ancient town's economy.
On June 20 and 21, 2026, the village of Preggio hosts the first edition of the Festival of Italic Cultures 'Millenni'. The event features scientific dissemination conferences, guided excursions to the hills of Monte Murlo and Monte Acuto, workshops, and a historical-food and wine tour. Among the announced speakers are Prof. Augusto Ancillotti, Prof. Luana Cencaioli, Prof. Paolo Braconi, and Prof. Duccio Lelli.
As this is the first edition, the detailed schedule of times and events will be released by the Pro Loco Preggio in the weeks preceding the event.
