Traditions, culture, and gastronomy in Piazza Gramsci, Misiliscemi
The Festival of Flavours is one of the most vibrant and identity-focused events in the municipality of Misiliscemi, located in the province of Trapani, in the far west of Sicily. Launched in 2025, the event is dedicated to celebrating the traditions, culture, and gastronomy of the region: a festive evening that brings citizens, families, and visitors together in the square to enjoy the authentic flavours of Trapani cuisine.
Misiliscemi is one of Italy's newest municipalities, established in 2021 from the union of several villages in the Trapani area. The Festival of Flavours is one of its most cherished events, as it helps build a sense of community and highlights a territory defined by its countryside, historic villages, and high-quality agricultural products. The event takes place in Piazza Gramsci, in the heart of the Rilievo village, and is organized by the Municipality of Misiliscemi with the invaluable support of the Pro Loco Misiliscemi APS, an association created specifically to promote local tourism and traditions.
The evening, which kicks off in the late afternoon, blends music, entertainment, and gastronomy in a program designed for all ages:
The heart of the event lies in the dishes of Trapani cuisine, which take center stage during the cooking shows and tastings. Pasta cu l'agghia (pasta with garlic, a sauce made from tomatoes, garlic, basil, and almonds) is one of the gastronomic symbols of the area, alongside almond pastries and other specialties that tell the story of the rural history of these lands. The tastings, often free, are designed to introduce and help visitors appreciate the local products.
With free admission and a cheerful, family-friendly atmosphere, the Festival of Flavours is the perfect opportunity to discover Misiliscemi and its province, immersed in the scents, sounds, and colours of Western Sicily. A town square festival that, edition after edition, is becoming a landmark for the community and for those visiting the Trapani area.
The second edition of the Festival of Flavours was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Piazza Gramsci in Misiliscemi, starting at 6:00 PM. Organized by the Municipality of Misiliscemi, the event confirmed the successful formula of its debut, blending music, entertainment, and gastronomy in a festive evening open to the entire community.
After the institutional greetings, the program featured a performance by the folk group I Tammorra, live cooking demonstrations dedicated to the preparation of pasta cu l'agghia and pasticcini di mandorla, a performance by the ADS Bailando Academy Sicilia dance school, and, in closing, a dance party with musical entertainment and a DJ.
Misiliscemi is located in the province of Trapani, in Western Sicily. By car, it is easily accessible from the A29 motorway (take the exits for Trapani) and local provincial roads; the village of Rilievo is just a few kilometres from the centre of Trapani. The reference airport is the Vincenzo Florio Airport in Trapani-Birgi, while the main railway station is in Trapani.
Admission to the event is free. Tastings of typical dishes are generally offered for free while supplies last.
The event takes place outdoors in the evening in Piazza Gramsci: we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and arriving a little early to catch the cooking shows and performances. For updated schedules and information on the current edition, please refer to the official channels of the Municipality of Misiliscemi.
