Three days of mystery, history, and legend in the heart of the Canavese region
The Festival Noir is a literary and cultural event that brings the town of Burolo, in the Province of Turin, to life every year at the beginning of June. Organized by Edizioni Pedrini, the festival takes place within the grounds of Villa Pasta, a historic residence that provides the perfect backdrop for an event dedicated to crime, thrillers, and all shades of noir.
What began as a small local initiative has grown with each edition, becoming a highly anticipated date for genre lovers across Piedmont, successfully blending a passion for reading with the rediscovery of the region's history and legends.
The common thread of the festival is the relationship between mystery, history, and legend. Alongside meetings with crime and noir writers, the program offers in-depth looks at the most enigmatic events of the Canavese: from the Templar legacy linked to ancient local places of worship to horror stories set among the hills and villages of the region, and even tales written in the Piedmontese dialect.
A particularly curious section is dedicated to Piedmontese Tarot, with exhibitions and readings that transport the public back to the esoteric and folk traditions of the past, in a continuous dialogue between high culture and local heritage.
The heart of the Festival Noir lies in its author meet-and-greets: book presentations, discussions, and signings that take place throughout the days. The literary program is complemented by conferences on current affairs and culture, guided tours of Villa Pasta, musical moments featuring traditional singing, and live performances.
Supported by the patronage of the Municipality of Burolo, CNA Editoria, and the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Festival Noir is designed as an open and accessible event, with many activities available for a voluntary donation. It is an opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of Piedmont, far from the main tourist circuits, where genre literature intertwines with the identity and traditions of a community that has made mystery its hallmark.
The fifth edition of the Festival Noir was held from June 5 to 7, 2026, in the spaces of Villa Pasta, in Burolo, under the patronage of the municipal administration, CNA Editoria, and the Metropolitan City of Turin.
The program alternated between book presentations, conferences, and performance moments, confirming the formula that unites genre literature, history, and legends of the Canavese territory. Among the themes addressed: Piedmontese Tarot, Templar stories, and horror set in the Canavese.
The Festival Noir is held at Villa Pasta, in the Municipality of Burolo (10010), in the Province of Turin. The town is located in the Canavese area, just a few kilometers from Ivrea.
By car: take the A5 Turin-Aosta motorway, exit at Ivrea, then follow the signs for Burolo. By train: the reference station is Ivrea, on the Chivasso-Aosta line, from where you can continue by bus or taxi to Burolo.
