Engineering Explained to Everyone

The International Engineering Festival is the major outreach event of the Politecnico di Milano, designed to bring the world of engineering and technology closer to the public. It takes place on the university's Milan campuses — the Bovisa Campus (Durando and La Masa sites), in District 9, and the Leonardo Campus — which open their doors to the city for three days, transforming into open-air laboratories.

The 2026 Theme: Technology for Humanity

The 2026 edition is the fourth and has the theme "Technology for Humanity": technology presented as a tool for shared progress and inclusive futures. The festival aims to show how engineering research responds to the major challenges of society, from climate change to health, from mobility to space exploration, in an open dialogue between the university and citizens.

A Program for All Ages

Three days of diverse experiences: interactive workshops, educational conferences and talks, cultural events and performances, open research labs, exhibition spaces, and activities dedicated to children (aged 6 to 12) and teenagers (aged 13 to 18). A varied program, designed for every age and interest, allowing participants to experience Politecnico's research firsthand and meet those who conduct it daily.

Guests and Outreach

Among the festival's protagonists are leading figures from science and business, such as physicist Gabriella Greison, entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli, Tommaso Ghidini from ESA, and polar explorer Chiara Montanari. Activity booking is done through the festival's official app, which provides the program, campus maps, and booking functions. Entry is free, with reservations required for activities and campus access. An event that makes Milan a capital of technical-scientific culture.
