The sport of Municipality 2 in celebration

The Festa dello Sport of Municipality 2 in Milan is a multidisciplinary event dedicated to the many sporting realities of the area. It takes place at the Martesana Amphitheatre, within Parco Martiri della Libertà Iracheni Vittime del Terrorismo, along the Martesana canal, in the Gorla and Turro neighbourhoods. It is a day designed to showcase the richness of local sports associations and to attract new audiences to sport.

Many disciplines, one celebration

The programme includes demonstrations, open try-outs, free lessons, and games for children. The disciplines involved cover practically the entire sporting spectrum: football, rugby, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, dance, martial arts, running, cycling, canoeing, and fitness activities, all outdoors. Those who wish can try a new sport, while neighbourhood associations make themselves known and gather new registrations.

Sport as socialisation and inclusion

The event is organised by Municipio 2 (Municipality 2) together with a network of local organisations, with NaMa – Nuovo Anfiteatro Martesana as the lead. Partners include associations such as Vo Duong Gorla (Vietnamese martial arts), AIK Milano (kung fu and Chinese disciplines), Centro La Sfera, Whanau Impresa Sociale for inclusive sport, and the Angeli del Bello volunteers for environmental care. The stated goal is to promote sport as a vector of socialisation, enhance the identity of the neighbourhoods in Municipality 2, and encourage participation for everyone, at any age and condition.

A park that becomes an open-air gym

For one day, Parco Martiri della Libertà transforms into a large open-air gym on the banks of the Martesana, one of the most beloved spots for sport and leisure in north-eastern Milan. The Festa dello Sport is thus also an opportunity to rediscover and experience a green space that is part of the neighbourhood's identity.
