The international contemporary circus festival in the green Parco della Martesana
Fuori Asse Festival is Milan's premier event dedicated to contemporary circus. Every September, the Martesana Amphitheatre and Park, in the Gorla-Turro district of Municipality 2 in Milan (Metropolitan City of Milan, Lombardy), become the venue for a grand outdoor celebration, where acrobatics, juggling, and physical theatre meet live music and conviviality.
The festival was born from the collaboration between Quattrox4 — a centre for contemporary circus in Milan — and ETC Cascina Martesana, with the involvement of numerous local associations and community groups. The underlying idea is that of a participatory circus, which enhances the educational and social potential of this art form as an agent capable of connecting people. The programme combines high-level international shows, concerts, DJ sets, workshops, and family activities.
Alongside performances by Italian and foreign companies, the festival offers musical evenings, contests for emerging bands, and special events such as astronomical observation with telescopes. Accessibility is a core value: the entire programme is free and open to everyone, in line with the vocation of Parco della Martesana as a public space used by citizens.
Along the Naviglio della Martesana canal, the festival has become an anticipated end-of-summer event in Milan, capable of bringing the language of contemporary circus to a broad, intergenerational audience, in an area of the city far from the major entertainment circuits.
The 2026 edition of Fuori Asse Festival takes place from 19 to 21 September at the Martesana Amphitheatre and Park. Three days of contemporary circus, music, and socialising, with shows by Italian and international companies, evening concerts, DJ sets, contests for emerging bands, workshops, and family activities.
Organised by Quattrox4 with ETC Cascina Martesana and a network of local organisations, the festival confirms its free admission formula that has made it a benchmark event for Municipality 2 of Milan.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be announced on the website www.quattrox4.com in the weeks preceding the festival.
All activities are free and open to everyone.
