The patron saint of Cusio, in the Upper Brembana Valley
Perched in the Upper Brembana Valley, in the Province of Bergamo, the Municipality of Cusio cherishes a devotion rooted in the Middle Ages. The parish church is dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antioch and became autonomous from the mother church of Santa Brigida as early as 1476. It is to this saint that the village dedicates its patronal festival.
The patronal festival of Saint Margaret is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of July. It is the time when the small mountain community gathers around the parish for religious celebrations, in a village that comes alive in the summer thanks to the return of those connected to these valleys.
Cusio is part of that mosaic of villages in the Upper Brembana Valley that preserve a heritage of religious and popular traditions. Saint Margaret's festival joins, in the local calendar, other events such as the Autumn Festival at Borgo del Mulino, confirming the vitality of a community that, although small, keeps its celebrations alive.
The 2026 edition of the patronal festival of Saint Margaret in Cusio is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, the second Sunday of the month according to local tradition.
The detailed program of religious celebrations and any civil events will be announced by the parish and the Municipality closer to the festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the parish of Cusio in the weeks preceding the festival. The patronal day traditionally includes a solemn mass in honor of Saint Margaret.
