Ferragosto in the medieval village of Cornello dei Tasso
Camerata Cornello is a small municipality in the Val Brembana, in the province of Bergamo, famous for being home to the medieval village of Cornello dei Tasso. On August 15th, the town celebrates its patron saint, Santa Maria Assunta, with a festival that renews the community's devotion on Ferragosto.
The heart of the festival is the religious celebration: on the afternoon of August 15th, the Holy Mass and the procession in honor of the Assumption are held at the parish church. A moment of reflection and community in a setting of great historical charm.
The festival is the ideal occasion to visit Cornello dei Tasso, the village that gave birth to the Tasso family, pioneers of the European postal service, and which today houses the Museum of the Tasso Family and Postal History. Between the frescoed Church of San Ludovico, the ancient Via Mercatorum, and the bell tower, the village is an unmissable stop in Val Brembana, particularly lively in the summer months thanks to guided tours and cultural events.
