The apricot festival in the countryside of Santa Lucia in Faenza
The Festa dla Mugnega is one of the most cherished festivals in the countryside of Faenza, in the heart of Romagna in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. The name, in the Romagnolo dialect, refers to the mugnega, which means apricot: a fruit deeply linked to the agriculture of the Faenza area, celebrated here every year at the beginning of June in the hamlet of Santa Lucia delle Spianate, along Via Santa Lucia.
The event is held in the parish sports field of Santa Lucia, an outdoor space covered in case of bad weather, where for about a week, dinners under the stars, concerts, and entertainment moments take place. Admission is free, and ample parking with a shuttle service is available. The atmosphere is that of authentic Romagnola village festivals, where multiple generations gather around tables to share good food and cheer.
The heart of the festival is the food stand, which offers the great classics of Romagnola cuisine prepared by volunteers. Among the first courses, the cappelletti, tortelli, and excellent curzul, the fresh pasta typical of the Faenza area, stand out. There are also grilled meats with arrosticini, sausage, grilled salami, and chicken, accompanied by local wines. Next to the stand, the wood-fired pizzeria is open every evening. The signature dessert of the event is the apricot Bavarian cream, a delicious tribute to the fruit that gives the festival its name.
Every evening, the festival offers live music starting at 9 PM, with Romagnola folk music orchestras, entertainment groups, dance nights, and DJ sets. The program alternates concerts, shows, and animation moments that make each evening lively.
The Festa dla Mugnega is also designed for children: the sports field features free bouncy castles, face painting, traditional wooden games, and entertainment, so families can spend a pleasant day enjoying traditional dishes. Organized by the Parish of Santa Lucia delle Spianate and the Anspi Circle with the valuable work of volunteers, the festival is a genuine opportunity to discover the conviviality and flavors of the Municipality of Faenza and the Romagna hinterland.
The Festa dla Mugnega 2026 animated the hamlet of Santa Lucia delle Spianate, in Faenza, for a whole week, from June 1st to 7th. Every evening, starting at 9 PM, concerts, folk music orchestras, and DJ sets alternated in a rich and varied program.
