Festa di Vernasso

A forty-year-long festival

The Festa di Vernasso is one of the most beloved summer events in the Natisone Valleys, organized for forty years in the hamlet of Vernasso, in the Municipality of San Pietro al Natisone, in the province of Udine. An event that, as its organizers like to say, means "sport, music, fun, and lots of joy": the essence of a village festival that has managed to grow without losing its genuine character.

Sport for everyone

The heart of the festival has always been sport, with a rich calendar of outdoor tournaments and activities. These range from the 6-a-side football tournament to the volleyball tournament, from grass volleyball to mountain bike excursions (MTB and e-bike), and walks to discover the natural wonders of Vernasso and the Valleys. Registration for the tournaments opens in the weeks preceding the event and attracts teams and enthusiasts from all over the area.

Gastronomy and conviviality

Alongside sport, there are no shortages of culinary pleasures: the food stalls offer excellent refreshments, while the wine bar offers a good variety of wines, particularly those from eastern Friuli. The evenings pass with music and merriment, in a family atmosphere that is the true hallmark of the festival.

Vernasso and the Natisone Valleys

Vernasso is located in the Natisone Valleys, the area of the province of Udine bordering Slovenia, custodian of the culture of Friulian Slavia (Benecia), with its local Slovenian language and traditions. A landscape of wooded hills, villages, and trails that provides a splendid backdrop for a festival designed for outdoor enjoyment and companionship. The event is passionately curated by the volunteers of the association InsiemePerVernasso.
