Festa di Santa Maria Maddalena

The 2026 edition of the patronal festival takes place on July 22nd, the feast day of Saint Mary Magdalene. In the evening, the statue of the saint is embarked at Lido Arezzo and accompanied by a flotilla of about thirty decorated and illuminated boats to the Lido Comunale, while the land procession takes place along the village streets. The day concludes with a fireworks display on the lake.

• Religious celebrations in honour of the patron saint Saint Mary Magdalene in the historic centre
• Land procession of the saint's statue through the village streets
• Aquatic procession: embarkation of the statue at Lido Arezzo, crossing the lake with a flotilla of about 30 decorated and illuminated boats, disembarkation at Lido Comunale (in the evening)
• Concluding fireworks display on Lake Trasimeno

How to get there

Castiglione del Lago (PG) is located on Lake Trasimeno. By car from the Bettolle-Perugia junction; by train, the station is on the Florence-Rome line. The aquatic procession departs from Lido Arezzo and arrives at Lido Comunale.

The festival is celebrated on July 22nd, with the procession starting in the evening. The best vantage points for observing the boat procession and the fireworks are the lakeside promenade and the two lidos.
