The motorcycle rally of San Giovanni in Galilea on the Rubicone hills
The Festa de Mutor is one of the most cherished motorcycle events in the hinterland of Romagna. Every year, on April 25th, the small village of San Giovanni in Galilea โ part of the Municipality of Borghi, in the province of Forlรฌ-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna โ fills with the roar of hundreds of motorcycles from all over Italy. Perched on a hill overlooking the Rubicone valley, this village of a few dozen inhabitants becomes, for one day, the meeting point for a large community of two-wheel enthusiasts.
The idea for the Festa de Mutor (in the Romagnolo dialect, the "engine festival") was born in 1980, when Benito Magnani involved some friends from San Giovanni in Galilea in the first edition. Since then, the event has never stopped, growing year after year to become a classic on the Romagna motorcycle calendar. Today, the festival is dedicated to the memory of its founder, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 84, and proudly carries forward his spirit of friendship and camaraderie.
The Festa de Mutor is a motorcycle gathering open to all types of bikes: from vintage bikes to touring bikes, from sports bikes to customs, no one is excluded. The heart of the day is the tourist tour through the Rubicone hills, a caravan of bikers traveling in formation along the scenic roads between Borghi, Sogliano al Rubicone, and the surrounding villages, amidst olive trees, vineyards, and views of the valley.
The awards ceremony is one of the most anticipated and fun moments. Trophies are awarded to the three largest motorcycle clubs, a cup to the oldest regularly circulating motorcycle, recognitions to the oldest and youngest rider, and a prize for the one who traveled the farthest. The election of Miss Festa de Mutor is a must, always bringing a smile to the participants.
To crown the day, there is the lunch at the Pro Loco of Borghi stand, featuring traditional Romagna dishes. The event also benefits from the collaboration of producers of the renowned formaggio di fossa (pit cheese), a typical product of the Sogliano al Rubicone area, a gastronomic symbol of this corner of Romagna. Between toasts and piadina, the Festa de Mutor is above all an occasion for meeting, friendship, and sharing the passion for motorcycles.
The Festa de Mutor 2026, in its 45th edition, was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in San Giovanni in Galilea, part of Borghi (FC). Once again, the motorcycle gathering, open to all types of bikes, brought together hundreds of enthusiasts for the usual scenic tour through the Rubicone hills.
The day followed the usual program: registration opening and gadget distribution from 8:30 AM, departure of the panoramic tour at 11:30 AM, and return around 1:00 PM for the awards ceremony and lunch at the Pro Loco of Borghi stand.
