The Velturno Village Festival

The Feldthurner Dorffest, or Velturno Village Festival, is one of the most cherished popular events in the upper Isarco Valley. It takes place in the heart of the municipality of Velturno (Feldthurns), a charming village overlooking the valley in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. It is not an annual event: the festival returns only every few years, making it a highly anticipated occasion for the entire community. The 2025 edition marked the seventeenth installment of the event.

Three days of celebration in the village center

For an entire weekend, from Friday to Sunday, the streets of Velturno's historic center transform into a vibrant festival space. Numerous local associations set up food stalls and refreshment points, while live music accompanies visitors from the start until late at night. The official opening on Friday evening is marked by the solemn entrance of the Velturno Brass Band (Musikkapelle Feldthurns), which kicks off the festivities alongside guests of honor.

The parade and the lottery

The highlight is the grand costume parade on Sunday afternoon, which features a unique theme chosen by the associations for each edition: in 2025, the theme was "Blockbuster." The colorful procession winds through the village with floats, costumed groups, and the festive participation of the locals. This is followed by the highly anticipated lottery drawing, the traditional closing of the event.

Flavors of South Tyrol

Gastronomy is a key feature: along the village streets, you will find typical South Tyrolean specialties, from canederli (Knödel) to spit-roasted chicken, grilled sausages, and Strauben (sweet fritters), as well as more modern offerings. All this takes place in a convivial atmosphere that blends rural tradition with village cheer, framed by the mountains of the Isarco Valley.

A unifying community event

The Feldthurner Dorffest is much more than a party: it is a moment where the entire Velturno community comes together to celebrate its identity, featuring South Tyrolean customs, folk music, and a strong spirit of collaboration among local associations.
