The Patron Saint of Aosta Cathedral
The Feast of Saint John the Baptist is the patronal feast of the Aosta Cathedral, located in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, in the historic centre of the capital of the Valle d'Aosta. The day intertwines the liturgical moment with that of the community celebration, bringing together the faithful and families of the parish.
A Day Between Faith and Community
The religious heart of the feast is the solemn Mass dedicated to the patron saint. On this occasion, couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries (5, 10, 15, 20 years and more) are also remembered, in a moment that links spirituality to family life. After the celebration, the community shares a convivial lunch in the Oratory grounds.
The Afternoon in the Cathedral
The afternoon continues with recreational activities, games, and artistic tours of the Cathedral, which houses a heritage of mosaics, frescoes, and a treasury museum among the most important in the western Alps. It is an opportunity to experience the monument not only as a place of worship but as a treasure trove of art and history of the Aosta Valley capital.
Feast of Saint John the Baptist — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the patronal feast takes place on Sunday, June 14. The day opens with the solemn Mass at 10:30 AM, during which wedding anniversaries are also remembered. Afterwards, the community shares lunch in the Oratory grounds. The afternoon is dedicated to games and artistic tours of the Cathedral.
