Epiphany in Recoaro Terme
The Feast and Burning of the Witch is the event with which Recoaro Terme, a spa town in the Piccole Dolomiti (Little Dolomites) in the province of Vicenza, celebrates Epiphany on January 6th. "Stria" means witch in the Venetian dialect: the festival combines the charm of popular tradition with a day of entertainment and spectacle in the historic center.
Entertainment and Sled Race
Along the streets of the center, stilt walkers, magicians, and elves perform, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere designed for families and children. Among the most characteristic moments is the historical costume sled race, which sees the various districts of Recoaro compete in a fun and spectacular competition, expressing the community spirit of the town.
The Burning of the Witch
The climax of the day is the great Epiphany bonfire, with the burning of the 'stria': according to tradition, burning the effigy of the witch serves to drive away the old and usher in the new year, symbolically closing the Christmas period. Organized by the Pro Loco of Recoaro Terme, the festival is an anticipated event that attracts residents and tourists during the winter holidays.

The 2026 edition of the Feast and Burning of the Witch was held on Tuesday, January 6th, Epiphany Day, in the historic center of Recoaro Terme. The town's streets came alive with stilt walkers, magicians, and elves, in a festive atmosphere designed for families and children.
Among the most cherished moments were the historical costume sled race between the districts and the great Epiphany bonfire with the burning of the 'stria' (witch effigy), burned to usher in the new year.
