Artisan market, workshops, and family entertainment in the historic center of Arco
Famiglie CreAttive is the annual event that, every late May, transforms the squares of the historic center of Arco, in the province of Trento, into a large open-air workshop. Around the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, among gazebos and wooden stalls, a market comes to life, brimming with original handmade artisan creations and food and wine products from the Trentino region. It is a hub of positive energy, fun, and togetherness, designed for children, parents, and grandparents alike.
The heart of the event is the handmade market, which showcases the ingenuity of artisans and creatives throughout the weekend: ceramic objects, textiles, illustrations, jewelry, and small handcrafted items, alongside local gastronomic specialties. Exhibitors enliven the urban living room of this Garda Trentino town, offering visitors a chance to browse, shop, and rediscover the value of manual craftsmanship.
The program alternates between activities for all ages: creative and ceramic workshops, storytelling sessions for the little ones, traditional wooden games, board games, skateboarding, and book swaps. There is no shortage of live performances: street art, clowns, magic, face painting, and music fill the squares with laughter. Meetings with pedagogues and conferences dedicated to parents are also scheduled to address themes of education and growth with a lighthearted approach.
The event intertwines with the historic Family Festival, which closes the weekend: yoga for adults and children, orienteering, roaming performances, workshops, and recreational activities turn the center of Arco into one big square dedicated to play and togetherness. The initiative is organized by the Consorzio Assocentro with the Municipality of Arco—a recognized "Family-Friendly" town—and involves a wide network of local associations and educational organizations.
Hosting Famiglie CreAttive in the historic center of Arco means combining the event experience with the discovery of one of the most evocative locations in Trentino-Alto Adige: dominated by the famous medieval castle, surrounded by olive groves, and just a few kilometers from Lake Garda, Arco is an ideal destination for a family trip blending culture, nature, and leisure.
For the 2026 edition of Famiglie CreAttive, the squares of the historic center of Arco hosted the traditional handmade market on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Saturday and from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday.
Program highlights included: the "Ceramica insieme" ceramic workshop, the "Gioca la Famiglia" wooden games, storytelling for the little ones, entertainment with Gigio the clown and face painting, board games, and conferences for parents. On Saturday evening, Manuel Pascalin's "Prestige" magic show took the stage.
Sunday, dedicated to the Family Festival, featured yoga for adults and children, orienteering, skateboarding, book swaps, roaming performances, and various workshops in the squares of Arco. Admission was free.
Arco can be reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the Rovereto Sud/Lago di Garda Nord exit and continuing towards Riva del Garda. By train, the reference station is Rovereto, which is connected to Arco by a bus service. The event takes place in the squares of the historic center, around the Collegiate Church.
Admission to the event and the market is free. The handmade market is generally open on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Online registration is recommended for the Family Festival day.
