Estate Regina is the music festival that, every summer, brings great music back to the heart of Montecatini Terme, in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany. Classical music concerts, chamber music recitals, and evenings dedicated to opera take place over more than a month, transforming the spa town into a widespread stage. The festival was born from a clear vision: to rediscover and enhance the extraordinary musical tradition of Montecatini and, in particular, its thermal baths—once a privileged meeting place and center of artistic activity for poets, painters, and, above all, great musicians.

The Tettuccio Thermal Baths, an Art Nouveau stage

The heart of the festival is the Tettuccio Thermal Baths, the iconic spa facility of the Montecatini Belle Époque, with its colonnades, frescoes, and monumental gardens. Montecatini was long known as "the city of musicians": Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini, and Ruggero Leoncavallo all stayed and worked here. Estate Regina captures this legacy and places it at the center stage, offering the public a high-level artistic program in one of the most scenic settings in Tuscany.

The partnership with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

The artistic benchmark of the festival since its inception has been the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino: musicians from the prestigious Florentine institution are regular guests of the program, ensuring the symphonic and chamber quality of the festival. The event is conceived and curated by the Cantiere Musicale di Toscana and enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Montecatini Terme, and the Tuscany Region.

One of the distinctive features of Estate Regina is that all events are free: free admission to concerts is a deliberate cultural choice, designed to bring the widest and most diverse audience possible closer to the world of classical music and opera. Between symphonic repertoire, recitals, string quartets, and famous opera arias, the program offers something for both expert enthusiasts and those approaching this repertoire for the first time.

A summer appointment in the Valdinievole

For over a month, from early June to mid-July, Estate Regina enlivens the evenings of Montecatini Terme and the entire Valdinievole area, integrating with the city's tourism and spa offerings. It is an opportunity to combine a spa vacation with evenings of great music, in a context that blends wellness, Art Nouveau architecture, and culture.
