The gateway to the Aeolian Islands: the festival's opening night on the Capo d'Orlando seafront
The Eolie Music Fest is a one-of-a-kind musical event: instead of being confined to a single venue, it spreads concerts and DJ sets across the Tyrrhenian coast and the Aeolian archipelago in the province of Messina, transforming the sea into a natural stage. Born in 2020 as a creative response to pandemic restrictions, when shows could only be watched by crews from their own boats, the festival turned that necessity into a signature format that blends music, landscape, and sustainability. The artistic direction is led by Samuel (Samuel Romano), lead singer and founder of Subsonica and creator of the event.
The town of Capo d'Orlando, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina, is the natural gateway to the archipelago and hosts the inaugural night of the 2026 edition. For the first time in its history, the festival has chosen the mainland as its starting point, from where the audience can reach the subsequent stages on the islands. The Marina of Capo d'Orlando thus becomes the first stage of the festival, overlooking a stretch of sea that serves as a natural backdrop for the concerts.
The opening day, Friday, July 17, 2026, is divided into two parts. In the afternoon, starting at 5:00 PM, Aiello, a Calabrian singer-songwriter known for his intense pop style, and the Shablo Jazz Project, a project by producer Shablo that weaves urban and jazz influences, will take the stage. At night, at 11:30 PM, the party moves to the sea with a DJ set by Andro and Shablo on board a boat, with boarding scheduled for 10:30 PM at the Marina of Capo d'Orlando.
The format combines authorial pop, urban production, and electronic music in settings rarely found elsewhere: stages on the water, the audience's boats, and the coast as a backdrop. After Capo d'Orlando, the 2026 edition continues between Santa Marina di Salina and Lipari (July 18 and 19), featuring artists such as Mannarino, Gaia, Brunori Sas, Maria Antonietta & Colombre, and Samuel himself. For those without a private boat, dedicated tourist boats are available.
More than just a concert, the Eolie Music Fest is an experience that brings the UNESCO World Heritage landscape of the Aeolian Islands into dialogue with the contemporary Italian music scene. For Capo d'Orlando and the entire province of Messina, it represents one of the most anticipated events of the summer, drawing fans and tourists from all over Sicily and beyond.
The 2026 edition of the Eolie Music Fest kicks off on Friday, July 17, from the Marina of Capo d'Orlando, chosen as the natural gateway to the Aeolian archipelago.
