The Abruzzo wine festival in the village of Bussi sul Tirino
Every late summer, the village of Bussi sul Tirino, in the province of Pescara, becomes one of the capitals of Abruzzo wine thanks to Enotirino, the themed wine festival that brings over one hundred exhibitors and more than seventy regional wineries to the streets of the historic center. Launched in 2024, the event has quickly become one of the most anticipated food and wine appointments of the late Abruzzo summer, attracting enthusiasts, curious visitors, and families from across the region and beyond.
The festival revolves around three pillars. Encounters focus on the stories of the producers: during tastings, you can talk directly with winemakers and participate in round tables and masterclasses dedicated to the profiles of Abruzzo wines. Taste is entrusted to tasting counters and local specialty producers, featuring cured meats, cheeses, olive oil, saffron, honey, truffles, and local street food, including the specialty river crayfish from the Tirino Valley. Finally, music accompanies the entire day with twelve hours of live concerts ranging from jazz to Italian singer-songwriters, and from funk-soul to Abruzzo folk, spread across the lounge and concert areas.
The backdrop for Enotirino is provided by the historic palaces of Bussi: the Castello Cantelmo that dominates the village, Palazzo Franceschelli, and Palazzo Fiorani, overlooking Piazza Tirino. Here, you will find winery stands, masterclass rooms, and exclusive tastings, while the streets and squares of the center host food stalls, stages, and refreshment points. The village's location, at the foot of the Gran Sasso and along the Tirino River, adds the natural frame of one of Abruzzo's most picturesque valleys to the festival.
Enotirino is promoted by the Municipality of Bussi sul Tirino with the involvement of the Abruzzo wine world, consortia, and trade associations. The goal is to promote regional denominations—from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo to Trebbiano, from Cerasuolo to Pecorino, and the recent Colline Teramane DOCG—while simultaneously relaunching the village as a destination for slow tourism and gastronomy. The festival is also family-friendly, with discounted tickets and activities suitable for children.
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Bussi sul Tirino hosts the third edition of Enotirino, from 11:00 AM until midnight. The village will be filled with over one hundred exhibitors, including more than seventy Abruzzo wineries and about fifteen local specialty producers, spread across the tasting counters of Castello Cantelmo, Palazzo Franceschelli, and Palazzo Fiorani. Alongside the wine, local flavors: cured meats, cheeses, olive oil, saffron, honey, truffles, and traditional street food.
The day will alternate between tastings, meetings with producers, and twelve hours of live music in one of the most beautiful valleys in Abruzzo, at the foot of the Gran Sasso.
The program also includes round tables on the world of wine, open tastings until 8:00 PM with glass and pouch, and activities designed for families.
Enotirino takes place in the historic center of Bussi sul Tirino (PE), between Castello Cantelmo, Palazzo Franceschelli, Palazzo Fiorani, and Piazza Tirino. The event is traditionally held on the last Saturday of August, from 11:00 AM to midnight.
