Three August evenings featuring Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Peligna flavors, and live music
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Vittorito Wine Festival is one of the most anticipated summer events in the province of L'Aquila. Every year, during the first weeks of August, the village of Vittorito—home to just over a thousand residents overlooking the Peligna Valley at the foot of the Abruzzo mountains—comes alive for three evenings entirely dedicated to wine and local farming traditions. Organized by the Pro Loco of Vittorito with the support of the Municipality, the event has surpassed its twenty-fifth edition, cementing its status as a landmark for lovers of Abruzzo food and wine.
The true star of the festival is Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, the region's great red wine, produced here according to a winemaking tradition that dates back to Roman times. As the organizers love to point out, in Vittorito "almost every house has its own cellar": the festival was created specifically to showcase this widespread heritage, made up of small producers, family winemakers, and historic local cellars. Throughout the evenings, you can sample local labels paired with typical dishes from Peligna cuisine.
Alongside the tasting booths, Villetta Paola Belloni hosts food stalls featuring local specialties, cocktail areas, and a packed entertainment program. Each evening offers live music, cover bands, DJ sets, and comedy guests, drawing crowds from across the Peligna Valley and neighboring towns. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a genuine Abruzzo village feast, where wine serves as a bridge between generations.
Attending the Wine Festival means discovering Vittorito and its deep-rooted identity tied to the vine: strolling through the historic center, meeting family winemakers, and savoring a wine that tells centuries of history of the province of L'Aquila and the Abruzzo region. It is an event that blends material culture, tradition, and celebration, renewing the bond between the community and its land every summer.
The 2026 edition of the Vittorito Wine Festival does not yet have an official date confirmed by the organizers. Based on previous years, the event is usually held during the first two weeks of August and spans three evenings at Villetta Paola Belloni.
The detailed program—featuring Montepulciano d'Abruzzo tastings, food stalls, and concerts—will be announced by the Pro Loco of Vittorito via their Facebook page. We recommend checking for updated dates before planning your visit.
