About EnOrvinio

EnOrvinio is the annual autumn food and wine festival that brings the alleys of Orvinio to life. Located in the province of Rieti, this small village is officially recognized as one of Italy's most beautiful. The event features a tasting trail winding through the town, showcasing craft beers and wines, local Rieti specialties, artisanal markets, live jazz, swing, and folk music, and tours of the Castello Malvezzi Campeggi. Admission is free, and the event takes place entirely outdoors against the backdrop of the Lucretili Mountains.

A village transformed into a gourmet trail

EnOrvinio is the food and wine event that, every autumn, turns the historic center of Orvinio into an open-air tasting itinerary. The town of Orvinio, in the province of Rieti, is one of the most charming spots in the Sabina region of Lazio: a medieval village of a few hundred inhabitants, listed among the Borghi più belli d'Italia (Most Beautiful Villages in Italy), perched on the slopes of the Lucretili Mountains. For one full day, its stone alleys, small squares, and historic portals become stages for a leisurely journey, glass in hand.

What to taste

The heart of the event is the food and wine trail: tasting stalls set up along the village streets offer selected wines from various Italian regions—Lazio, Abruzzo, Veneto, Liguria, and Sicily—alongside craft beers made with locally sourced ingredients. The food stalls are dedicated to traditional Rieti cuisine and typical Sabina products, ranging from cheeses and cured meats to mountain legumes and extra virgin olive oil, which represents one of the area's most ancient and iconic products.

  • Wineries and tastings of Italian wines with producers present at the stalls
  • Craft beers made with local ingredients
  • Food stalls featuring traditional Rieti peasant cuisine
  • Artisan market and stalls with local agricultural products
  • Live music: jazz, swing, and folk performances in the village squares

Music, crafts, and castle tours

Beyond the flavors, the day offers a widespread entertainment program. Musical groups perform in the historic center's squares with jazz, swing, and folk sets, while artisans showcase traditional crafts and contemporary creations. Those interested in local history can visit the Castello Malvezzi Campeggi, a building with origins dating back to the year 1000 that houses Renaissance frescoes, as well as the village churches. There are also nature walks organized in the surroundings, within the perimeter of the Lucretili Mountains Regional Natural Park, which sponsors the event alongside the Municipality.

Who organizes it

EnOrvinio is promoted by the Associazione Orviniando APS, a local organization founded to enhance the heritage, products, and social life of this corner of the Sabina region. The 2025 edition, the eighth, took place on Sunday, October 5th, confirming the well-established format: artisan market opening in the morning, wineries and food stalls operating from lunchtime, and festivities continuing until late afternoon. The event has grown year after year to become one of the most anticipated autumn appointments in the Rieti area.

Why it's worth the trip

Orvinio can be reached in just over an hour from Rome, yet it feels like stepping back in time. The combination of an intact medieval village, the panorama of the Lucretili Mountains in the October light, and a refined yet informal food and wine offering makes EnOrvinio an ideal day trip for families or friends. Admission to the event is free: you only pay for what you taste at the individual stalls. A simple and authentic way to discover the Sabina region, one of the most genuine and least touristy areas of Lazio.
