A day of nature, tradition, and conviviality in the hills of Elice
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Elice Country Picnic is a popular spring festival held in Elice, a small medieval village nestled on the northern slopes of the Val Fino, in the province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo. Organized by the Pro Loco of Elice APS, the event invites residents and visitors to spend a day in the open air at Colle d'Odio, one of the town's hamlets surrounded by meadows and gentle rolling hills.
The heart of the picnic is the spirit of sharing: the day begins with a group meeting, followed by a communal gathering around a picnic basket prepared with locally sourced products. The format is that of a simple, authentic village festival where good food, nature, and company are the true protagonists. There is no shortage of games and entertainment designed for families and all ages.
The day is brought to life by the performance of the group I Giovani Briganti, who share the songs and dances of the Abruzzese folk tradition. The music and dancing, along with activities such as the painting area and quiz games, make the picnic a moment to rediscover the cultural roots of the Elice community and a shared celebration.
Elice is a medieval village that preserves a historic center clustered around its castle and narrow alleys. The municipality, which hosts other events related to local traditions throughout the year, uses the Elice Country Picnic to showcase the hilly landscape of the Val Fino and the Abruzzese food and wine heritage. The event, which reached its fourth edition in recent years, has established itself as one of the most anticipated spring appointments promoted by the Pro Loco to raise awareness of the territory and strengthen the sense of community.
The 2026 edition of the Elice Country Picnic has not yet been officially announced by the Pro Loco of Elice APS. In previous years, the event took place in the spring at Colle d'Odio, featuring locally sourced picnic baskets, music, and traditional Abruzzese folk dances. As soon as the date and program are released, this page will be updated.
Elice can be reached by car from the A14 motorway (Pescara Nord-Cittร Sant'Angelo exit), continuing towards the Val Fino hinterland. The Colle d'Odio area is located in the immediate vicinity of the village. The nearest train station is in Montesilvano, on the Adriatic line.
The event generally requires a participation fee for the picnic basket. For updated dates, times, and registration procedures, it is recommended to contact the Pro Loco of Elice APS or follow the social media channels of the Municipality of Elice.
