The summer five-a-side football and green volley tournament that lights up Eboli's evenings in memory of Angelo
The Eboli Summer Cup "Angelo Vive" has become one of the most anticipated and well-attended sporting events of the summer in Eboli, a town in the Piana del Sele area of the province of Salerno, in Campania. The event has been held for years in synergy with the Angelo Vive Association, whose commitment, affectionately supported by the Caprio family, has allowed an initiative born in memory of Angelo to grow into a symbol of closeness, friendship, and shared values.
The result is an event that goes far beyond a simple summer tournament: on the evenings of late June and July, the pitch fills with teams, families, and fans, and sport becomes a tool for social inclusion, community building, and growth for the entire town.
The event's headquarters is the Polisportiva Feldi Eboli complex on via Fontanelle. The facility, established in 2006 following the renovation of local sports grounds, features an 8-a-side football pitch, a 5-a-side football pitch, and two clay tennis courts, and serves as the home of the Feldi football school. This is where all the tournament evenings are concentrated, from the group stage draws to the finals.
The heart of the Summer Cup is the five-a-side football tournament, the event's traditional format, played in group stages during the evening hours when the temperature in the Piana del Sele finally becomes bearable. Alongside the football, the novelty of green volley—volleyball played on grass—has been added, broadening the participant base and attracting a new audience to the pitch.
The progress of the event is reflected in the numbers. The 2025 edition concluded with 16 teams and over 150 athletes spread over eleven evenings of competition; the 2026 edition saw 20 five-a-side football teams and 9 green volley squads, for a total of approximately 300 athletes and three full weeks of programming. This growth has been accompanied by the organizers' hope for increasingly close collaboration with local institutions to ensure the event's continuity and stability over time.
What distinguishes the Eboli Summer Cup from the many summer tournaments in Southern Italy is its dual soul. On one hand, the competitive dimension, with local teams facing off throughout the event; on the other, the dimension of memory, as every evening recalls the name of Angelo and the values that the Angelo Vive Association upholds: friendship, respect, sharing, and attention to those on the margins.
For the Municipality of Eboli, which offers a rich calendar of events throughout the summer featuring sport, music, and tradition, the Summer Cup represents one of the most heartfelt appointments for the youth and one of the moments when the city truly gathers around a single initiative.
The event is traditionally concentrated between the end of June and the second half of July, with matches scheduled in the evening hours. Information regarding registration, the match calendar, and access methods is released periodically by the organizers and the Polisportiva Feldi, in conjunction with the local Eboli press, which follows the event from the presentation to the final awards ceremony.
The 2026 edition marked a significant step forward for the Eboli event. From June 29 to July 20, 2026, the Polisportiva Feldi complex on via Fontanelle hosted three weeks of sport, community, and sharing, with hundreds of athletes on the pitch and a large audience in the stands every evening.
The five-a-side football tournament, the event's traditional format, saw 20 teams register, while the absolute novelty of green volley attracted 9 teams. In total, approximately 300 athletes participated, a figure never reached before and confirmation of the initiative's constant growth.
As every year, the organization was carried out in synergy with the Angelo Vive Association, affectionately supported by the Caprio family: a commitment that has transformed a tournament born in memory of Angelo into an identity-defining event for the city of Eboli, where sport becomes a tool for social inclusion and community growth.
Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Polisportiva Feldi: at 7:30 PM, a technical briefing reserved for team managers; at 9:00 PM, a press conference for the presentation and official draw, hosted by journalists Silvana Scocozza and Angelica Tafuri. The evening was open to citizens, athletes, fans, and participating teams.
The detailed match calendar was released evening by evening by the organizers and the local press.
The matches take place at the Polisportiva Feldi Eboli, on via Fontanelle in Eboli (84025), in the province of Salerno. The city is served by its own railway station on the Salerno–Battipaglia line and by the Eboli exit of the A2 del Mediterraneo motorway. The sports complex has parking and access suitable for people with motor disabilities.
The tournament is played in the evening, between the end of June and the second half of July. It is advisable to arrive a little early on the evenings of the finals, when public attendance is higher.
