The E!State Liberi camp at the Fattoria della Legalità in Isola del Piano, a small municipality in the hinterland of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino (Marche), is an experience of volunteering and training that attracts people from all over Italy every summer. It is organized by Libera. Associations, names, and numbers against the mafias, the network founded by don Luigi Ciotti that promotes commitment camps on assets seized from organized crime and returned to the community.
Confiscated property: from the mafia to the community
The Fattoria della Legalità is located in the Castelgagliardo area, on a property of over four hectares of land with two buildings, definitively confiscated in 2006 from an entrepreneur linked to a criminal organization active in Northern Italy. Entrusted by the Municipality of Isola del Piano to a volunteer association in collaboration with Libera, since 2012 it has become a symbolic place of social anti-mafia activism in the Province of Pesaro. The faces of Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino, and Peppino Impastato stand out on the farm's walls, while the Garden of Memory and the Library of Legality welcome schools, young people, and visitors throughout the year.
What it means to participate in the camp
E!State Liberi camps are not holidays: they are days marked by shared work and reflection. In Isola del Piano, participants are involved in the maintenance of the confiscated property and concretely contribute to its daily management, in a rural setting that itself becomes an educational tool. Alongside manual labor, there are workshops, training sessions, discussions on social and political issues, storytelling, and testimonies from experts and protagonists of the anti-mafia movement.
A symbolic value for the Marche region
In a region that is not historically a land of mafia, the Fattoria della Legalità has a special significance: it demonstrates that the culture of legality—understood as responsibility, participation, cooperation, and solidarity—concerns every territory. The camp is aimed at adults (over 18) and is part of Libera's national program, which involves thousands of volunteers every summer on dozens of confiscated properties across Italy.

The 2026 camp at the Fattoria della Legalità in Isola del Piano (PU) is confirmed from August 3rd to 8th, 2026, according to the national calendar of E!State Liberi camps distributed by Libera at the beginning of the year. For the Marche region, it is held alongside the camp in Cupramontana (July 26th – August 2nd), in the Ancona area.
The experience is aimed at adult volunteers (over 18) and involves alternating shared work for the care and maintenance of the confiscated property with moments of in-depth study: workshops, training sessions, discussions on social and political issues, storytelling, and testimonies from experts in social anti-mafia activism. Community life on the farm, immersed in the rural landscape of the Pesaro hinterland, is an integral part of the program.

How to get there
The Fattoria della Legalità is located in Castelgagliardo, in the territory of Isola del Piano (PU), in the hinterland between Fano and Fossombrone. By car, it can be reached from the SS73bis and the provincial roads of the Metauro Valley; the nearest train station is Fossombrone/Fano on the Adriatic line, from which you can continue by car. It is advisable to arrange logistical details with the organizers upon registration.
