The summer festival of the medieval village of San Vito, in the heart of Valcesano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sagra della Bruschetta enlivens the medieval village of San Vito sul Cesano every summer, a charming hamlet in the Municipality of San Lorenzo in Campo, in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the heart of Marche. Nestled along the Cesano river valley, the small castle transforms for a few evenings into a large convivial gathering place, where the community welcomes visitors from all over Valcesano and beyond.
The event has been running for over forty years: since the nineties, it has been organised by the Associazione San Vito Giovani, which works each edition to make the festival ever more beautiful and participatory, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration of San Lorenzo in Campo.
The absolute star is the bruschetta, which has obtained the De.C.O. (Municipal Designation of Origin) recognition. It is prepared with local bread, abundant extra virgin olive oil from local producers, and the Red Onion of Suasa, a typicity with a sweet and delicate flavour that characterises this area of Valcesano. Various versions can be tasted at the stalls: the classic, the tricolour, the Mediterranean, and the rustic.
Alongside the bruschetta, the food stalls offer other traditional Marche dishes, including:
The festival is not just about food: on weekend evenings, the atmosphere comes alive with live music and dancing in the village squares. Mornings are dedicated to fun for all ages, with games and entertainment that recall the spirit of the historic "Sanvitiadi", the light-hearted competitions dear to the San Vito community.
The Sagra della Bruschetta is also the perfect opportunity to visit San Vito sul Cesano, an ancient medieval village perched on the Marche hills. Among alleys, walls, and panoramic views of the valley, the festival combines the pleasure of good food with the rediscovery of a small gem in the hinterland of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.
The Sagra della Bruschetta of San Vito sul Cesano is a summer festival that has been held for over forty years, usually on the first weekend of August. For 2026, the Associazione San Vito Giovani has not yet published the official calendar: dates and programme are being defined and will be announced on the sagra's social channels.
The tradition that makes the event famous is confirmed: the De.C.O. bruschetta prepared with the Red Onion of Suasa and local extra virgin oil, accompanied by tagliatelle, beans with pork rind, piadine, French fries, and desserts. As usual, the evenings will feature music and dancing in the village, with entertainment for families in the mornings.
It is advisable to check the definitive dates on the Facebook and Instagram profiles of the Associazione San Vito Giovani before planning your visit.
