Chamber music in the cloister of the Convent of Santa Vittoria
The Santa Vittoria Festival is the chamber music review that for over twenty years has enlivened Fratte Rosa, a village of about 850 inhabitants perched on a panoramic hill between the Metauro and Cesano valleys, in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. It is one of those events that demonstrate how great culture is not the exclusive preserve of large cities: here, in a small municipality in the Marche hinterland, a public of enthusiasts and the curious gathers every summer, drawn by the quality of the performances and the beauty of the place.
The beating heart of the festival is the Convent of Santa Vittoria, founded in 1216 and renovated in 1773, which overlooks the surrounding hilly landscape from above. The concerts are held in the internal cloister, considered one of the most evocative spaces in the province for its natural acoustics; in case of bad weather, the performances move inside the church. The secluded and quiet location of the convent creates a rare listening atmosphere, far from the major concert circuits and therefore even more precious.
Over the course of its editions, the festival has presented works by dozens of composers, ranging from classicism to romanticism to the 20th century: Gioachino Rossini (a figure dear to the Marche region), Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, AntonÃn Dvořák, Claude Debussy, Ottorino Respighi, but also less frequently performed pieces by Rachmaninov, Aaron Copland, Josef Marx, and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari. The program alternates instrumental and vocal music, with the participation of internationally renowned pianists, singers, and instrumentalists.
The soul and founder of the event is Maestro Siegmund Weinmeister, a pianist and conductor, who has been its artistic director since its origins and who every year brings musicians from various European countries to Fratte Rosa. The festival is supported by the Municipality of Fratte Rosa, the Santa Vittoria Cooperative, and the local Pro Loco associations, and also benefits from the contribution of the Marche Region.
More than just a series of concerts, the Santa Vittoria Festival is a community project: the organization is partly supported by fundraising campaigns that cover the rental of the piano, the artists' hospitality, and their travel expenses. It is a testament to the deep bond between a small village in the Marche and cultured music, an event that transforms Fratte Rosa into a reference point for chamber music lovers every August.
The Santa Vittoria Festival 2026 will take place in Fratte Rosa (Province of Pesaro and Urbino, Marche) from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the usual setting of the cloister of the Convent of Santa Vittoria.
The 2026 edition, also confirmed through a fundraising campaign promoted by the Municipality of Fratte Rosa on the Rete del Dono platform, renews the tradition of a review that for over twenty years has offered high-level chamber music with artists from all over Europe, under the guidance of Maestro Siegmund Weinmeister.
At present, the detailed program of the concerts, with the performers and works on the bill, has not yet been published. As in previous editions, a series of evenings dedicated to the great composers of the chamber repertoire is planned, from Rossini and Schubert to Brahms and Dvořák. Updates will be disseminated on the festival's official Facebook page and by the Municipality of Fratte Rosa.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the names of the musicians and the works on the bill, will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event. As per tradition, three evenings of chamber music concerts (August 7, 8, and 9) are planned in the cloister of the Convent of Santa Vittoria, dedicated to the great classical repertoire (Rossini, Schubert, Brahms, Dvořák, Debussy, and other composers). For the final program, please refer to the festival's official Facebook page and the channels of the Municipality of Fratte Rosa.
