Hundreds of drummers play in unison in Ascoli Satriano
Drum 100+150 is much more than just a music festival: it is a true international drum summit that transforms Ascoli Satriano, a small village in the Monti Dauni area of Foggia, into the capital of rhythm every late June. The concept, born from the passion of maestro Francesco Rocca, is as simple as it is spectacular: gather hundreds of drummers and have them play all together in perfect synchronization during a single, massive outdoor performance.
The event's name evolves each year based on the number of participating musicians, starting from 69 drummers in the first edition to 250 in 2026. This growth has made the festival an increasingly anticipated highlight of the Apulian summer.
The heart of the festival is the grand finale performance: dozens upon dozens of drum kits lined up in the square, precisely conducted to play the same piece at the exact same moment. It creates an impressive wall of sound that vibrates through the entire historic center. Surrounding this centerpiece are concerts, internationally renowned guests, and events dedicated to enthusiasts.
Drum 100+150 is not just entertainment; it is also an educational hub. The first few days are dedicated to outdoor learning: masterclasses, seminars, and open lessons held by some of the best Italian and international drum instructors take place along Via Santa Maria del Popolo and throughout the historic center. It is a rare opportunity for young talents and amateur drummers to study in direct contact with the biggest names in the industry.
The event serves as a major promotional engine for Ascoli Satriano and the entire Monti Dauni area. During the festival, local accommodations regularly sell out weeks in advance. The municipality, which sponsors the event, provides dining areas, shuttle services from parking lots, and opportunities to discover the village's rich archaeological and architectural heritage, from the famous Daunian artifacts to the Polo Museale.
The reach of Drum 100+150 has long since crossed national borders: participants and enthusiasts arrive not only from all over Italy but also from Germany, Luxembourg, and even Santo Domingo. Starting from a small town in the Capitanata region, the festival has become a landmark for the drumming community across Europe.
The 2026 edition of Drum 100+150 set a new record for the Ascoli Satriano event: 250 drummers playing in unison, hailing from all over Italy and countries such as Germany, Luxembourg, and Santo Domingo. Directed by maestro Francesco Rocca, the festival combined spectacular performances, education, and international guests.
The most anticipated moment was the concert by British legend Simon Phillips, the historic drummer for Toto and collaborator with Mick Jagger and The Who, who starred on Saturday, June 27. The grand finale on Sunday, June 28, featured the Sud Sound System, the historic reggae group from Salento, accompanied by the wall of sound from the 250 drummers. The event's success was confirmed, with all local accommodations fully booked weeks in advance.
The first two days are dedicated to outdoor training: masterclasses, seminars, and open lessons held by Italian and international drum instructors take place along Via Santa Maria del Popolo and in the historic center, accessible to all participants.
Ascoli Satriano is located in the Monti Dauni, in the province of Foggia. By car, take the Foggia (A14) or Candela (A16) motorway exits, then follow provincial roads toward the village. The nearest train station is in Foggia, which is connected by bus services.
During the festival, a shuttle service operates from parking areas to the historic center, where the activities and concerts are concentrated.
Admission to all events is free. Dining areas and food stands are available during the evenings. Due to high attendance, it is recommended to book accommodation well in advance.
