About Flowering Festival

Every spring, the meadows of Dromaè, perched above the village of Mezzolago in the Ledro Valley, burst into color with the blooming of wild daffodils and peonies. Amidst this natural spectacle, the Pro Loco Mezzolago hosts the Flowering Festival, an open-air celebration featuring a traditional Trentino lunch at the Casinei of Dromaè: polenta carbonera, grilled meats, peverà sauce, local cheese, and wine. A genuine, eco-friendly event in harmony with the mountains in the heart of the Ledro Valley.

The Dromaè Flowering Festival

The Dromaè Flowering Festival is one of the most beloved spring traditions in the Ledro Valley, Trentino. Every year, between May and June, the high-altitude meadows of Dromaè—a natural balcony suspended about 800 meters above the village of Mezzolago, in the Municipality of Ledro (Province of Trento)—transform into a vibrant carpet of color thanks to the wild daffodils and peonies, accompanied by wild orchids, lilies, primroses, and gentians.

A Natural Treasure in the Biosphere Reserve

The area is part of the UNESCO Alpi Ledrensi e Judicaria Biosphere Reserve, where alpine flora meets Mediterranean species, influenced by the proximity of Lake Garda and Lake Ledro. All species blooming in the Dromaè meadows are protected: visitors are encouraged to photograph them, but not to pick them, in order to preserve this delicate mountain ecosystem.

A Traditional Lunch at the Casinei

In the heart of the day, at the Casinei di Dromaè, the Pro Loco Mezzolago offers a lunch featuring the authentic flavors of Trentino tradition:

  • Polenta carbonera, the iconic mountain dish;
  • Grilled salami or chops;
  • Peverà sauce and local cheese;
  • Wine, soft drinks, and coffee.

An Eco-Friendly Event

The Flowering Festival is designed in harmony with the nature that hosts it. To reduce waste, organizers invite participants to bring their own reusable plates and cutlery, avoiding disposables: a small gesture that makes a day dedicated to mountain respect even more authentic.

How to Reach Dromaè

The meadows and the Fienili di Dromaè can be reached on foot from Mezzolago via three paths: the old road (a mule track through the woods, the steepest, about 1.5 hours), the scenic forest road (about 2.5–3 hours), and the botanical trail (about 2 hours). The ascent, immersed in the woods and overlooking Lake Ledro, is an integral part of the festival experience.

Organized by the Pro Loco Mezzolago, the Flowering Festival combines nature, culinary tradition, and community spirit, making it an unmissable stop for those wishing to discover the authentic spring of the Ledro Valley.
