About Donnas Grape Festival

The Donnas Grape Festival is the historic harvest festival of the lower Aosta Valley, which every first Sunday of October celebrates the Donnas DOC wine, produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown on characteristic mountain pergolas. Founded in 1956 and organized by the Pro Loco of Donnas, it brings together street food, dance evenings, tasting dinners, the vignerons' lunch, the grape handover, and the 'Golden Bunch' award for the best bunches. A weekend that tells the wine identity of the municipality of Donnas, in the province of Aosta.

The Donnas DOC wine festival

Every early October, the municipality of Donnas, in the lower Aosta Valley, celebrates the harvest with the Grape Festival, one of the most cherished food and wine festivals in the valley. The star is Donnas DOC, a red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the typical pergolas that climb the mountain terraces, an expression of one of Italy's northernmost heroic viticulture.

A tradition dating back to 1956

Organized by the Pro Loco of Donnas, in collaboration with local cooperative wineries, the festival was founded in 1956 and has spanned decades of local history. It is traditionally held on the first Sunday of October, extending over the entire weekend with a program that combines conviviality, gastronomy, and agricultural traditions.

Tastings, dancing, and the Golden Bunch

The program includes street food and dancing evenings, a tasting dinner with dishes from Aosta Valley cuisine paired with local wines, and on Sunday, the vignerons' lunch open to all. The heart of the festival are the grape handover by the winemakers and the awarding of the Golden Bunch, an award for the best bunches. There is also a mass and a parade with the musical band.

The wine identity of the Aosta Valley

The Donnas Grape Festival is much more than a village festival: it is the moment when the community celebrates its bond with the land and wine, telling the wine identity of Donnas, in the province of Aosta, and of the entire Aosta Valley.

Donnas Grape Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Donnas Grape Festival takes place on the first weekend of October, around the first Sunday of the month (October 4th).
