Thursday summer evenings featuring cuisine, culture, and crafts at the DoloMythos Museum in San Candido
The DoloMythos Summer Fest, also known by its German name SUMMER Fest: Kulinarik & Kultur, is a series of summer evenings held in the garden of the DoloMythos Museum, located in the heart of the pedestrian zone of San Candido/Innichen, in the Upper Puster Valley (Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige region). Every Thursday evening in July and August, from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, the museum transforms into an open-air gathering spot where cuisine, culture, and craftsmanship meet beneath the peaks of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The heart of the event is the barbecue featuring regional gastronomic specialties: traditional South Tyrolean dishes prepared on-site and accompanied by craft beer and local products. Long outdoor tables invite guests to spend a pleasant evening in good company, in a relaxed and informal setting that makes the Summer Fest a favorite among both locals and visitors vacationing in the Puster Valley.
Alongside the culinary offerings, the evenings feature an artisan market where local craftspeople showcase their work, and most notably, free admission to the DoloMythos Museum starting at 6:00 PM. DoloMythos is the premier museum dedicated to the Dolomites, housing fossils, minerals, crystals, and dinosaur reconstructions, alongside the legends and myths of the mountains. During the festival, visitors can freely explore the collections, from the extensive mineral display to evidence of the prehistoric life of the Dolomite massif.
The DoloMythos Summer Fest is also designed with children in mind: a treasure hunt and a dedicated kids' area await them at the museum, with activities to explore, experiment, and learn about nature in a playful way. The formula combining good food, culture, and entertainment for all ages makes these Thursday evenings an authentic way to experience summer in San Candido, one of the most picturesque villages in the Upper Puster Valley.
The event takes place at the DoloMythos Museum, at Via P. P. Rainer 11 in San Candido/Innichen, and repeats every Thursday evening throughout July and August. Admission to the event is free.
The DoloMythos Summer Fest 2026 returns to the garden of the San Candido/Innichen museum with nine open-air evenings, all on Thursdays, from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The formula remains the proven one: barbecue with regional gastronomic specialties, craft beer, an artisan market with live demonstrations, and free entry to the DoloMythos Museum from 6:00 PM. For children, a treasure hunt and activities in the nature exploration area are planned.
Every evening: 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM. Barbecue with regional specialties, artisan market, free museum entry from 6:00 PM.
The DoloMythos Museum is located at Via P. P. Rainer 11, in the pedestrian zone of San Candido/Innichen (Upper Puster Valley). By train, the San Candido station is served by the Puster Valley line (Fortezza-San Candido-Lienz); the town center is just a few minutes' walk from the station. By car, you can reach San Candido via the SS49 Puster Valley road.
The DoloMythos Summer Fest evenings take place on Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Admission to the event is free; access to the museum is free starting at 6:00 PM.
