There is a moment of the year when Upper Garfagnana dresses up in music: it is when Discovering Morricone takes the stage in Gorfigliano, a village in the Municipality of Minucciano in the province of Lucca. This is an open-air concert event entirely dedicated to Ennio Morricone, one of the most beloved names in the international music scene, capable of transforming soundtracks into timeless works of art.

The stage is the unique Gorfigliano Sports Area: a natural amphitheater at the foot of the Apuan Alps, dominated by the imposing mass of Mount Pisanino, the highest peak in the chain. Here, as daylight gives way to sunset, Morricone's notes blend with the landscape in a suspended and romantic atmosphere.

The Ensemble Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Loprieno

The star of the evening is the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Giacomo Loprieno. The orchestra performs the most beloved pieces from the Roman composer, conductor, and arranger's repertoire live, in a fascinating journey through his vast artistic universe, featuring stories, anecdotes, solo interpretations, and soundscapes that retrace an extraordinary career.

An event of the regional festival

The concert is part of the program of the regional festival Toscana Arcobaleno d'Estate, now in its 14th edition, which marks the start of summer and the tourist season every year by bringing culture and entertainment throughout Tuscany, with particular attention to the small villages of the so-called "Toscana Diffusa". The initiative is offered by the Municipality of Minucciano, the Union of Garfagnana Municipalities, and the Tuscany Region.
