The Dialect Theater Festival in Spoltore

In the heart of the Abruzzo summer, the Dialect Theater Festival brings the hamlets of Spoltore, in the province of Pescara, to life with four evenings dedicated to vernacular comedy. Promoted by the Municipality of Spoltore through the Department of Culture, in collaboration with UILT (Italian Free Theater Union) Abruzzo, the festival celebrates the region's amateur theater heritage and the expressive richness of the Abruzzese dialect.

Theater in the hamlets

The festival's format is that of a distributed program: performances are not concentrated in a single location but reach the various hamlets of the Municipality, from Santa Teresa to Caprara d'Abruzzo, from the main town of Spoltore to Cavaticchi. In this way, culture reaches the entire community, transforming squares, parks, and open spaces into stages under the stars. All evenings are free of charge and start at 9:00 PM.

Companies and popular tradition

The protagonists are the amateur companies affiliated with UILT Abruzzo, bringing years of experience and a strong bond with the territory. The dialect comedies stage stories of daily life, family conflicts, misunderstandings, and local characters, addressed with humor but also with a touch of social reflection.
