Diabetes Marathon

A run that is much more than a race

The Diabetes Marathon is one of the most cherished sporting and solidarity events in Forlì, in the heart of the Province of Forlì-Cesena in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2014, it has grown year after year to exceed three thousand participants, transforming Piazza Aurelio Saffi into a large open-air meeting point for runners, walkers, families, and the simply curious. The event is organized by Diabete Romagna ODV, the association that supports people living with diabetes at every stage of life in the region.

Sport, parks, and solidarity

The heart of the event is the "Parks" run and walk: the route goes through the city's most beautiful green areas, offering a different way to discover Forlì in the early morning. You can choose between a 10 km competitive UISP race, reserved for athletes, and 10 km and 6.5 km recreational routes designed for walkers, families, and those who simply want to spend a healthy day in good company. Participation is open to everyone, regardless of age or athletic preparation.

The Diabetes Marathon Village

While you run, Piazza Saffi comes alive with the Diabetes Marathon Village: a space for entertainment and, above all, prevention, where you can undergo health checks and measurements thanks to the collaboration with Forlifarma, the Wellness Foundation, and the staff of the diabetology department at the "Morgagni-Pierantoni" Hospital in Forlì. The educational component is an integral part of the event: running and walking become an opportunity to talk about healthy lifestyles and diabetes prevention.

A concrete impact on the community

All proceeds support Diabete Romagna's projects for children, teenagers, and adults living with diabetes. In recent editions, the event has raised tens of thousands of euros for assistance, education, and support activities. For this reason, the Diabetes Marathon is now considered more than just a running race; it is the city's festival: a day when Forlì rallies around a common cause, with the support of volunteers, partner companies, and institutions.

A calendar that goes beyond the race

The Diabetes Marathon is also surrounded by a broader program of initiatives promoted throughout the year, including benefit concerts, training courses, and scientific conferences dedicated to diabetes, making the Forlì event a benchmark for sport, health, and solidarity in Romagna.
