Four days of Castelli Romani wine, local cuisine, and culture in Monte Porzio Catone
DeGustibus is the food, wine, and cultural festival of Monte Porzio Catone, a town in the Metropolitan City of Rome, in the Lazio region. Established in 2024 by the Municipality and the Wine Museum, the event takes place every year in early June at Parco Gramsci, the green space overlooking Piazza Trieste, right next to the museum. In just a few editions, the event has become one of the most popular fixtures in the Castelli Romani summer calendar, with attendance growing year after year.
Monte Porzio Catone has always been wine country: we are on the slopes of the Lazio Volcano, in the Frascati DOC area, where volcanic soils produce savory, mineral white wines. DeGustibus focuses precisely on this identity, with tasting stands featuring Castelli wineries, Malvasia Puntinata, rediscovered native grape varieties, and new interpretations of Frascati. Alongside the wine, there is space for local agricultural producers, charcuterie makers, craft breweries, and local restaurateurs offering street-food versions of traditional Lazio dishes.
The format is well-established and repeats over the four days, from 5:00 PM until midnight:
Starting with the 2026 edition, the festival added a chapter dedicated to art and illustration, with exhibitions set up along the event route: the administration's stated goal is to build a closer dialogue between food culture and artistic expression. Over the years, the program has also been enriched with e-bike excursions and guided treks toward the archaeological area of Tusculum, the ancient Latin city that overlooks the valley and offers one of the widest views of Rome.
DeGustibus is a village festival in the best sense of the word: no artificial scenery, just a town opening its cellars and kitchens. The evening format, with free admission and the park lights under the pine trees, makes the event particularly suitable for a family evening or a day trip from Rome, which is just thirty kilometers away. Those who want to learn more can combine their visit with the Wine Museum, which tells the history of viticulture in the Castelli Romani, and a walk through the historic center of Monte Porzio Catone.
Promoted by the Municipality of Monte Porzio Catone with funding from the Lazio Region and organized by Iperico Servizi per la Cultura and Magnolia Eventi, the 2026 edition brought four evenings dedicated to the wine and cuisine of the Castelli Romani to Parco Gramsci. The novelty of the year was the opening to art and illustration, with the ELOS exhibition by Gianluca Garofalo inaugurated on the first evening.
Each day followed the same rhythm: opening of the stands at 5:00 PM, a showcooking session at 6:00 PM with local restaurateurs, a tasting masterclass between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM, and the evening concert at 8:30 PM. Activities for the little ones — from bread-making workshops to jam-making — accompanied the weekend.
By car: from Rome, take the Via Tuscolana (SS 215) or the A1 motorway, exiting at Monte Porzio Catone; the town is about 25-30 km from the Grande Raccordo Anulare. Recommended parking in Via Romoli, Via E. Majorana, and Via Frascati Antica.
By train: from Roma Termini station, the regional FL4 line reaches Frascati or Montecompatri-Colonna; from there, continue by Cotral bus to Monte Porzio Catone.
The festival takes place every day from 5:00 PM to midnight at Parco Gramsci, in Piazza Trieste. Admission to the area is free. Tastings at the stands are paid per consumption; masterclasses and workshops require booking and in some cases a contribution (approximately 5 to 25 euros).
Masterclasses have limited spots and must be booked in advance on the official website. June evenings in the Castelli Romani can be cool: a light jacket is useful. For those arriving from afar, Frascati and Grottaferrata offer numerous accommodation options just a few minutes away by car.
