Maremma's finest wines in the heart of Orbetello
In the heart of spring, the historic center of Orbetello, overlooking the picturesque lagoon in the province of Grosseto, transforms into a grand tasting trail dedicated to wine. DeGustatus – The Sense of Wine is the spring spin-off of the famous autumn food and wine festival Gustatus: a format designed to showcase the viticultural excellence of the Tuscan Maremma and serve as a prelude to the major celebration that fills the town's streets every autumn.
The concept is simple and successful: bring local producers' stands into the center, along the elegant Corso Italia, and let the glasses tell the story of a land devoted to viticulture, from Morellino and Vermentino to bold reds. It is an opportunity to discover Maremma wineries in an informal and convivial setting, strolling through the squares overlooking the lagoon.
The mechanism is the classic one used at major wine festivals: you purchase a tasting glass for 10 euros, which includes the Degusta Card, allowing you to sample the wines offered at all the producers' stands. Glass sales points are set up in Piazza Cortesini, Piazza del Plebiscito, and Piazza del Popolo, while the stands remain open along Corso Italia in the late afternoon and evening, when Orbetello's historic center lights up with atmosphere.
The stars of the event are 24 wineries from the Maremma, presenting their most representative labels. The festival was born from the collaboration between the Pro Loco Lagunare, the Municipality of Orbetello, and the historic center's natural shopping district, with the goal of combining wine promotion with the enhancement of local businesses, attracting residents and tourists to discover the area's labels.
The experiential heart of the event is the masterclass dedicated to Maremma wines, hosted in the evocative exhibition hall of the former Talamone pediment, a hamlet of Orbetello overlooking the sea. A guided tasting journey, reserved for a limited number of participants and accessible by reservation only, allows for a deeper understanding of local wines with expert commentary.
DeGustatus represents a new addition to Orbetello's event calendar and confirms the food and wine vocation of a town that, with its lagoon and traditions, is one of the most beloved destinations on the Tuscan coast.
From May 30 to June 1, 2026, the historic center of Orbetello hosted the first spring edition of DeGustatus, a spin-off of the Gustatus food and wine festival dedicated entirely to wine. Along Corso Italia, stands from 24 Maremma wineries were set up, with tasting glasses and the Degusta Card available for purchase in Piazza Cortesini, Piazza del Plebiscito, and Piazza del Popolo.
