The De.Co. Tortelli Festival is one of the most cherished food and wine events in the province of Piacenza. It takes place every year at the end of July in Vigolzone, a small town in the Piacenza Hills in Emilia-Romagna, and revolves entirely around the village's symbolic dish: the turtéi cu la cua, the tortelli with a tail.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Vigolzone since 1996, the event has grown to become a major attraction drawing thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond. The skilled local women knead fresh egg pasta and prepare a filling of ricotta, spinach, and Grana cheese, then meticulously hand-braid the characteristic "tail" that gives the tortelli their name.
A De.Co. Recognized Specialty
The tortelli with a tail is a product with Communal Designation (De.Co.) status, a recognition that protects its traditional recipe and its link to the territory. During the festival days, volunteers prepare over ten quintals of tortelli, each weighing about ten grams: an enormous artisanal effort, the result of months of preparation.
Alongside the tortelli, the food stands offer Piacenza's culinary classics — cured meats, gnocco fritto, traditional desserts — accompanied by wines from the Piacenza Hills, particularly from the Val Nure.
Music, Dancing, and Entertainment
Every evening, after dinner, the venue comes alive with live orchestras and dance floors: ballroom dancing, light music, and entertainment for all ages. The final evening traditionally features a pyromusical show that lights up the Vigolzone sky. For the little ones, a funfair with free rides is set up every evening.
Where It Takes Place
The heart of the festival is the Municipal Stadium of Vigolzone, at via Olimpia 1, equipped with over 4,000 covered seats. Its location at the foot of the Piacenza Hills makes the festival an excellent opportunity to discover the villages, castles, and wineries of the Piacenza Province.

The 31st edition of the De.Co. Tortelli Festival in Vigolzone will take place from Friday, July 24 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Municipal Stadium in via Olimpia. The established format is confirmed: food stands with the famous tortelli with a tail, handmade by the village women, Piacenza's traditional cured meats and desserts, wines from the Hills, and every evening live music with orchestras and dance floors.
For children, there is a free funfair, while the closing evening should end with the pyromusical show that has been the most anticipated moment of the festival for years. How to Get There
Vigolzone is located about 15 km south of Piacenza, along the Val Nure. By car, it can be reached from the A1 motorway (Piacenza Sud exit) following signs for Val Nure. The nearest train station is Piacenza, connected by local bus services.
