The largest international event dedicated to the world of dance
Every February, the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, the capital of Tuscany, transforms into the largest international gathering dedicated to dance. Danzainfiera, organized by Pitti Immagine, brings together thousands of dancers, schools, academies, companies, and industry brands over three days in an event that combines performances, training, and a marketplace under one roof.
Founded in 2006, Danzainfiera has grown to become the benchmark for those who live dance as a passion or a profession. It is not just a performance festival, but a major hub that focuses on training: lessons, masterclasses, auditions for the most important Italian and international academies, competitions, and scholarships. This is where many young talents have found their gateway to a professional career.
The strength of Danzainfiera is its variety: classical and contemporary dance, modern, jazz, hip-hop, Caribbean dances, flamenco, oriental dances, and much more. In recent years, the event has also opened its doors to the most popular youth phenomena, giving space to K-pop with workshops dedicated to the choreographies of the groups most loved by the international public.
With tens of thousands of attendees each year, Danzainfiera is also a major driver for tourism in Florence and Tuscany: visitors, families, and professionals arrive from all over Italy and abroad, enlivening the city during a weekend in February. The setting of the Fortezza da Basso, the historic venue for major Florentine fairs, adds charm to an event that is now a consolidated tradition in the Tuscan cultural calendar.
The twentieth-anniversary edition of Danzainfiera brought the slogan "Believe. Dance to become" to the Fortezza da Basso, an invitation to young people to transform their dream of dance into a real career. The event offered over 370 activities spread across 13 studios and 3 stages, including lessons, auditions, masterclasses, competitions, and performances, confirming its status as the largest international event in the sector. Among the year's novelties was the official entry of K-pop with workshops dedicated to the choreographies of the most popular groups. The edition recorded approximately 20,700 attendees and the participation of academies and companies from all over the world.
The 20th edition, with the slogan "Believe. Dance to become", featured over 370 events across 13 studios and 3 stages.
For the first time, K-pop officially entered the fair with a series of workshops dedicated to the choreographies of the groups most loved by the public (including Stray Kids, BlackPink, TWICE, and BTS), culminating on Sunday, February 22.
Key highlights included the Dance Parade and the Junior Parade with scholarships up for grabs, as well as numerous international contests and competitions on the stages.
The Fortezza da Basso is located on Viale Filippo Strozzi, just a short walk from the Florence Santa Maria Novella train station: those arriving by train can reach the entrance on foot in about 10 minutes. By car, the reference motorway exits are Firenze Nord or Firenze Sud (A1); however, it is recommended to use public transport, as the city center is subject to ZTL (restricted traffic zone) and parking is limited.
The event is open every day from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with last entry at 6:00 PM.
Tickets can be purchased online on the official website and at the fair. Discounted rates are available for dancers and schools; lessons, masterclasses, and auditions require dedicated registration. Advance booking is recommended to avoid queues.
Bring comfortable clothing and dance shoes if you want to participate in the lessons. Arrive early to check the daily program, which is very dense and spread across multiple studios and stages.
