Children's theatre inspired by the fairy tales of Gianni Rodari, set in the green surroundings of Parco di San Giusto in Scandicci.
In the heart of summer, Parco di San Giusto in Scandicci, within the Metropolitan City of Florence (Tuscany), becomes an open-air stage for Su-sultò Festival, a children's theatre series curated by the Limpar Association. It is an event designed for families, where performances come to life from the most beautiful world a writer ever imagined: the imagination of Gianni Rodari.
The festival focuses on the fairy tales of Gianni Rodari, brought to the stage with the sensitivity of theatre for new generations. The shows are aimed at an audience "aged 0 to 99": an invitation to reflect and soar with the imagination, but also to have fun, run, play, and enjoy the park. The greenery of Parco di San Giusto, in the Bagnese area, provides a natural backdrop for a program that combines the magic of theatrical storytelling with the pleasure of spending time outdoors as a family.
Su-sultò is more than just a local event in Scandicci: it is a metropolitan project that involves the municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Florence, bringing children's theatre to various territories. Thanks to the synergies between these metropolitan municipalities, the festival's performances are free of charge, aiming to spread culture and ensure accessibility for all families.
In Scandicci, Su-sultò is part of the broader Scandicci Open City program, the municipal summer festival that enlivens the city from June to September with over 130 events, including music, theatre, cinema, dance, performances, art, and gatherings spread across all neighborhoods. Within this rich program, Su-sultò stands out as one of the highlights dedicated to younger audiences.
Amidst the flowerbeds and lawns of Parco di San Giusto, Su-sultò's evenings offer children their first exciting encounter with live theatre, and adults the chance to rediscover the poetry and irony of Rodari. It is a simple yet precious experience, capable of transforming a summer evening in Scandicci into a small journey into the world of imagination.
In 2026, the Su-sultò festival returns to Scandicci with two events, scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23, at Parco di San Giusto. The Limpar Association presents children's theatre shows inspired by the fairy tales of Gianni Rodari, designed to encourage reflection and imagination, as well as fun and family time in the park.
The performances are free of charge thanks to the collaboration between the municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Florence and are aimed at an audience "aged 0 to 99". The initiative is part of the metropolitan Su-sultò project and the Scandicci Open City 2026 program. Titles and times for individual shows will be announced by the organizers closer to the event date.
Performances are held at Parco di San Giusto (Bagnese area), in Scandicci, Province of Florence, Tuscany.
