From June 3rd to July 24th, 2026, the Ernesto Ragionieri Library in Sesto Fiorentino hosts A Stage in the Library, the summer festival that has enlivened the evenings of this Florentine suburb for several years. In the courtyard and outdoor spaces of the former Manifattura Ginori, the library becomes a true stage where culture steps off the shelves and comes to life.
A multidisciplinary programme
The heart of the programme is theatre, presented in many forms: contemporary drama, staged readings, monologues, and performances inspired by the great classics of literature. Alongside prose, there is room for music—from the opening blues to classical concerts for string ensembles—as well as dance and literary meetings. The festival also features a White Night, which brings the library to life from the afternoon until the following morning with performances, juggling, role-playing games, and astronomical observations.
A focus on younger audiences
A significant part of the schedule is dedicated to children and families, with shows and workshops that draw from the world of reading and imagination. This confirms the Ragionieri's vocation: a public library that serves as a community hub and a meeting place for generations.
Culture accessible to all
The festival's philosophy is one of open and popular culture: the majority of events are free to attend, while a modest ticket (maximum 10-12 euros) is required for some evening performances. Organised by the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino through its library, A Stage in the Library has become a highly anticipated event in the cultural summer of Tuscany, bringing big names in theatre and music to an intimate and welcoming setting, just a few kilometres from Florence.

The 2026 edition of A Stage in the Library offers over a month and a half of events in the outdoor spaces of the former Manifattura Ginori. Between theatre, classical music, blues, dance, readings, and children's shows, the programme alternates between well-known names and experimental proposals, confirming the popular and high-quality vocation of the Sesto festival.

- June 3 — Blues inauguration: a guided journey into the devil's music with the Giuseppe Scarpato band
- June 6-7 — White Night: from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning, featuring theatrical performances, juggling, concerts, role-playing games, workshops, activities for children, and astronomical observations
- June 9 — String ensemble concert dedicated to the centenary of conductor Bruno Bartoletti, with music by Mozart, Schubert, and Sibelius, conducted by maestro Alessandro Pinzauti

Getting there
Sesto Fiorentino is easily accessible from Florence by train (Sesto Fiorentino station) and by suburban bus lines. By car, take the Firenze Nord exit from the A1 or A11 motorway.
