Chamber music and sustainability in the villages of Abruzzo, the opening stage in Tione degli Abruzzi
Dandelion is a widespread festival for sustainable concerts created by the Identità Musicali ETS association, designed to combine chamber music with environmental sustainability. The project takes the concert experience out of conventional venues and into some of the lesser-known villages of the Abruzzo hinterland, often far from traditional cultural circuits but of great landscape, environmental, and human value. Each event takes place inside a mobile, energy-self-sufficient concert hall designed with the lowest possible environmental impact: an immersive model of musical enjoyment that respects the places hosting it.
The municipality of Tione degli Abruzzi, in the province of L'Aquila, hosts the first stage of the 2026 edition of the festival. The concert is held in the hamlet of Santa Maria del Ponte, at the church of the same name, in a charming setting among the mountains of inland Abruzzo. It is the event that opens a musical itinerary which, throughout the summer, touches four Abruzzo villages belonging to four different provinces, ideally uniting the whole region around an idea of slow, sustainable, and community-based music.
The Tione degli Abruzzi stage is part of the "Roots of history, bonds of culture" initiative, included in the program of collateral events for L'Aquila Italian Capital of Culture 2026. A way to link the festival to the major cultural event featuring the Abruzzo regional capital and its territory, bringing live music to the small municipalities of the province as well.
The star of the concerts is the Ensemble Baccano, the Identità Musicali group that brings together Abruzzo musicians under 35. In Tione degli Abruzzi, the string quartet presents the "MADE in Abruzzo" program, a musical proposal that blends the region's folk and popular music with classical language, restoring the sonic soul of the region in a refined yet accessible way.
True to its community vocation, every stage of Dandelion is not just a concert but a moment of encounter: at the end of the performance, the audience is invited to an aperitif in the village alleys, an opportunity to experience the town, meet the local community, and extend the experience in conviviality. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the involved municipalities, and is curated by an association of young musicians active in the Abruzzo territory.
Admission to the concerts is free. Given the limited capacity of the mobile hall, online booking via the form published by the organizers is highly recommended. An event designed for those seeking quality music in a natural, authentic, and sustainable setting, far from large venues and close to the roots of Abruzzo.
