The historic exchange and reuse market in the heart of Bibiana
One Sunday in May, the historic center of Bibiana—a small town in the Province of Turin, in the heart of the Pinerolo area—clears of cars and fills with stalls, objects, and curiosities. "Da la Crota al Sulè," which in Piedmontese means "from the cellar to the sun," is a name that says it all: items forgotten in basements return to the light to find a second life. It is one of the longest-running and most beloved exchange and reuse markets in the Piedmont region.
Bibiana has hosted this event for over forty years and was among the first towns in the area to propose such an initiative, long before reuse became a buzzword. The event maintains a rigorous selection of exhibitors: those who do not offer at least second-hand items are turned away, staying faithful to the original spirit of exchange and recovery, far from a generic flea market.
For the occasion, the streets and squares of the center become a large pedestrian zone hosting around 170 stalls. Exhibitors and enthusiasts arrive from all over the Pinerolo area and beyond, filling the streets from the early hours of the morning. In recent years, the exhibition space has expanded with a new small square overlooking via Cavour, a sign of the vitality of an event that continues to grow.
Beyond the stalls, the day is enlivened by roaming music and a catering service managed by the Pro Loco of Bibiana, which prepares lunch for residents and visitors. The event, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Bibiana, is an opportunity to meet up, stroll, and rediscover the pleasure of sustainable shopping in one of the most cherished traditions of the Piedmontese spring calendar.
The 2026 edition, held on Sunday, May 10, confirmed the growth of one of the most beloved events in the Pinerolo area. The center of Bibiana welcomed about 170 stalls, a dozen of which were hosted in the new square overlooking via Cavour, inaugurated at 11:00 AM by Pro Loco volunteers and the municipal administration. The day was enlivened by the "Tanto per Cantare" choir and filmed by the cameras of Rete 7.
