Two days of festivities in the heart of Prato Sesia featuring street food, markets, and the traditions of San Bernardo
D'Anpràa is the popular festival that enlivens the historic center of Prato Sesia, a small town in the province of Novara, Piedmont, at the gateway to the Valsesia valley. Created to celebrate the patron saint San Bernardo, the two-day event combines religious observance, social gatherings, and leisure, drawing in families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns.
The heart of the event is the town center, where markets and stalls are set up along Via Edmondo De Amicis, Piazza Rolando, Via Rivetto, and Via Carlo Arienta. Street bands wander among the stalls, while dedicated areas host sports activities and children's entertainment, including inflatables and games.
The program alternates between official ceremonies and community moments: celebrations for newborns, the 18th-birthday party at the town hall, the San Bernardo procession with a solemn mass, and the presentation of the Torre d'Oro award. Sunday also features the traditional San Bernardo lunch and the Piaggio Ciao moped rally, a favorite among vintage motor enthusiasts.
Alongside D'Anpràa, the Pro Loco of Prato Sesia hosts the Festa del Gusto (Taste Festival) in the parish oratory's green area, featuring themed evenings ranging from Piedmontese mixed fried food to ravioli del plin, and from roast pork to beer-braised shank. These culinary evenings are accompanied by live music and DJ sets that keep the village lively until late at night.
D'Anpràa is one of the most cherished events on the Prato Sesia calendar: a festival that gives the streets back to the citizens and, year after year, strengthens the community's bond with its roots and the devotional traditions of San Bernardo. It is also an ideal opportunity to discover this corner of Piedmont between the Novara area and the Valsesia valley.
The second edition of D'Anpràa was held in Prato Sesia on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, 2026, enlivening Via De Amicis, Piazza Rolando, Via Rivetto, and Via Arienta.
Prato Sesia is located in the province of Novara, along the Sesia river valley. By car, it is accessible via the A26 motorway (Romagnano Sesia-Ghemme exit), then following signs to the town center. By train, it is served by the Novara-Varallo line, with a stop at Prato Sesia station.
