The Crono Trofeo di Caprileone is an individual uphill cycling time trial held in Rocca di Caprileone, a hillside village belonging to the municipality of Capri Leone, in the Province of Messina, Sicily. The race takes place along the Strada Provinciale Panoramica della Valle del Fitalia, a route that winds through the Tyrrhenian vistas of the Nebrodi mountains, offering athletes a technical and evocative course. Also known as the Cronoscalata del Leone, the event is promoted by the ASD Team Sport e Service club.

The event that launches the 2026 Coppa Sicilia

For the 2026 season, the Crono Trofeo di Caprileone takes on a role of particular prestige: it is the opening race of the revamped Coppa Sicilia Cycling Challenge, the Sicilian amateur circuit that has entered a new era after sixteen years of history. Included as the first seasonal event following its move from the traditional summer slot, the time trial kicks off a calendar that spans the entire island, from gran fondo races to time trials, culminating in the classic Gran Fondo della Ceramica in Santo Stefano di Camastra.

The race against the clock

As an individual time trial, each cyclist starts alone at regular intervals and tackles the climb, aiming to set the fastest time possible.
