Crescere a Teatro arrives in Penne

Crescere a Teatro is the festival dedicated to children's and family theatre promoted by the Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo (TSA), the regional theatre institution recognized by the Ministry of Culture. After seasons hosted in Pescara and L'Aquila, in 2026 the festival arrives for the first time in Penne, an art town in the Vestino area of the province of Pescara, thanks to the collaboration between the TSA and the municipal administration led by Mayor Gilberto Petrucci and Councillor for Culture Mario Semproni.

The Nuovo Teatro Comunale of Penne

The performances are held at the Nuovo Teatro Comunale, a space reclaimed from the former municipal slaughterhouse and returned to the community after Penne had been without a theatre hall for decades. The new structure thus becomes the home for this first season for little ones, in an intimate and welcoming setting designed for a young audience.

The 2026 Program

The festival offers four Sunday appointments, all starting at 5:00 PM:

• Sunday, January 18 — «Puss in Boots»
• Sunday, February 22 — «Pinocchio»
• Sunday, March 15 — «Hansel and Gretel»
• Sunday, April 19 — «The Tale of Friendship»

On stage are local Abruzzo companies I Guardiani dell'Oca, Fantacadabra, and Brucaliffo, who accompany young spectators through stories of wonder built with sets, costumes, acting, and live music.

A project for new generations

Crescere a Teatro was born within the Sistema Cultura Abruzzo project, through which the Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo supports and promotes professional companies active in the region. The goal is to show young audiences all the magic of live performance, offering families an opportunity for shared cultural growth. The formula, successfully tested in other Abruzzo locations, focuses on classic fairy tale titles capable of speaking to both children and parents.
